General Fishing Tips / Re: Budget treble hook replacement (bulk)
« on: July 09, 2024, 06:15:15 PM »
The ones on the lures are probably same quality as Alibaba, or even the same source. But why go budget friendly if you recognize they are substandard hooks.  If I'm swapping hooks out, they are for the highest quality I can get.

Totally agree.   I only buy Owner treble hooks nowadays.  You don't want to loose a fish of a life time because of poor quality hooks!

I am right there with you never cheap out on hooks. I rather go cheaper on line rod or reel than hooks and always get owner.

Congrats Mr. X I liked the video when you landed the kayak. You were straight to business where to put the kayak and where to sleep for the night. You were probably exhausted but didn't show it.

I lost my hobie paddle one day landing my kayak at rock away. Not a fan of the paddle at all. I won the bending branches anglers classic in the arw tournament one year and like that one. Also have this one CARLISLE PADDLE GEAR 240cm Magic Plus Fiberglass Kayak Paddle. Both paddles provide a lot more power than the hobie one. The hobie paddle is lighter though but since I peddle I don’t care.

General Talk / Re: Any fad diets for Hobies? Asking for a friend.

You could also take the opposite angle and say most kayak fisherman don’t lift weights and are fat and out of shape. But yes the hobies are heavy and if you don’t know how to lift it properly can get seriously hurt. My brother just hurt his back carrying his hobie.

Mr. X aka Mr. Balls (balls of steel) rides again. Very cool that we can track your sail. Good luck and safe travels.

General Talk / Re: Where to catch livees? - Shoreline Park

I do really well with catching smelt anchovies and shiners. All you need to do is throw a ton of white bread. Make sure it soaks a bit in water so it sinks then throw a cast net. Around any of the piers or places with structure in the bay will work.

Great story teller. I love sturgeon too such beautiful different looking fish. Hopefully the numbers improve in the Bay Area…

Any good YouTube’s on this? I always thought that if you get the jig in the rock fish or lings face they will reaction bite. Didn’t know there was so much technique involved.

Thanks again for the 50 fathom line fish finder install Paul.
