I will post up the official results tomorrow.
Gtg for now

Fishing Tournaments and Events / FreshKATS 2013 Club Roster
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:42:34 AM »
As many of you know, part of what I do through FreshKATS is provide event insurance for the tournaments, and I do this by having a $15 dues fee for club members.  I have to pay for the event insurance on April 1 this year and my cost went up a bit, so I am asking folks that think they will be making it to the FreshKATS events this year to register for the club when they are able.  I will of course have the roster at all the events to keep track of who has paid the $15 dues for 2013, but I thought it might be nice to have a list here so you can check for yourself as well :)

The current roster is:

1 - Weimarian - Ron
2 - DrHabanero - Jim
3 - Free8135  -Igor
4 - FolsomFishing - Scott
5 - Sonoramike - Mike
6 - Naoaki
7 - Ash
8 - PakehaCherie - Cherie
9 - Avery Sintes
10 - ScottV
11 - Racin Rob
12 - FishFarmer- Ben
13 - Daleshark- Tim
14 - VWool - Victor
15 - Ryan (Team Chancho)
16 - Len Meier
17 - Mary Meier

43 members to go. :)

Thanks guys, your support keeps this tournament series going!

I need 60 club members to break even without using tournament fee's (which I would rather use for permits and prizes).

For those that want to pay the dues before getting to the events, there are 2 ways you can do that.

mail your info and a check to:

Fishing Tournaments and Events / FreshKATS Port-O-Sac Stripers 2
« on: January 31, 2013, 05:00:45 PM »
The event this year will take place on December 8th 2013 at the Barge Canal Recreational Access in the City of West Sacramento, CA. (http://www.cityofwestsacramento.org/city/depts/pcs/boating.asp) (map: http://goo.gl/maps/42hyc)

We will have a potty with sink at the port... small donation needed to cover gas   ($2-3 ea to = $50.00) Thanks Traildad for setting this up... It will be a great relief for all (and the bushes)

tide info here... http://www.tides4fishing.com/us/california/sacramento   Looks like we will be launching at low tide and fishing threw flood till 2 hrs after high tide... This should be optimal!!! Gonna be some fish caught...
The rules for the event are:
Best five (5) fish per person(chosen by the angler) as scored based on the scoring system below.  Since the possession limit is 2 Striped Bass, only 2 of the scoring fish may be Striped Bass.  The total points of your best 5 fish as measured at weigh-in or presented on a camera will be your score.
Fishing starts at 7:00 am and you must have a wristband before competing. I will hand out wristbands at the launch beginning at 6:30 am.
The angler must be on shore no later than 1:00 pm and immediately head to the check-in table.
All Ca. DFG rules must be followed or immediate disqualification will happen.
You will be required to wear a PFD or life jacket while competing.

There is also a competition for the most trash picked up by weight during the tournament, the prize for this will be announced on tournament day.

Since this is a "Series" event hosted by Freshwater Kayak Anglers Tournament Series (FreshKATS), points from this event will be added to points for the angler earned at the other events (Berry. Butte, Amador, new malones and the Port of sacramento) to determine the top series winners.

Note that as this is a FreshKATS event, Fresh KATS membership is required for tournament insurance.  The membership is $15 and is good for one(1) calendar year, thus, if you paid for your membership at one of the other events this year you are covered for this event.  If you are not a member, you will have coverage for this event only.

As is usual in NCKA... A pot luck after the event and prize winner determination will be held @ the port but... if gets chilly/rainy for the event ... we will do the awards at the RoundTable Pizza down the street from the event parking lot.  the address is: 2105 Town Center Plaza #F-180 and this link (http://goo.gl/maps/hDVUb ) will bring up a map from the port to the pizza  :)

Fishing Tournaments and Events / FreshKATS 2013 information and schedule
« on: January 06, 2013, 10:18:21 AM »
Many thanks to everyone who came to the tournaments in 2012 and made the series great!
After deliberation and input from other kayakers I have come up with a schedule for the 2013 events.

First things first tho, the FreshKATS (Freshwater Kayak Anglers Tournament Series) 2013 membership is $15 and covers all 6 FreshKATS 2013 events .  Each tournament entry fee will be $10 and will be used for prizes on top of what I can get in sponsorship/donations.  The rules are the same for each event, best 5 fish of any legal species based on a point per inch scoring system adjusted for the event to highlight the primary target species.  I will post the scoring system for each event 1 month in advance of the tournament.

The Schedule as it stands for FreshKATS 2013 is:

1)  Black Butte Lake, Buckhorn Rec. Area: March 23, 2013  (Map: http://goo.gl/maps/JDO38] )

These dates were chosen as not to conflict with other tournaments and provide at least 2 weeks between other anticipated events historically held on NCKA.

The locations are all within 2 hours of Sacramento and should provide good fishing at the event date.  My objective is to have a series of events where I think everyone has a good chance of winning the event based on the species available and best available knowledge of fishing conditions for the lake and season.

As with 2012, this is a series and points will be accumulated for all events to decide the series winner.

Sponsors thus far include (updated as I get more):

Headwaters Kayak Shop
Lowrance Marine
Boomerang Tools (Maker of The Snip)
Hobie Kayaks
Ocean Kayak
Adventure Sports
Headwaters Adventure Company
Reel Fish Bait Company
Pro-Cure
Crystal Basin Tackle
Trinidad Tackle
TFO

I am going to go dive at Yorty creek to try and find my camera and knife I dropped this spring sometime this week.  I will be free diving in 18 to 25 feet of water by the island.

As I have not been diving in several years, company is very much appreciated.

After either finding my lost gear or giving up, I plan on trying for some crabs and RF likely in Bodega.

right now I have leave from the family for tuesday or/and wednesday (13 and 14) but need to keep it CHEAP.

Thanks

Jim
