Good day on the San Joaquin today.  Most of my fish came on incoming tide.  Looking for areas with a good current.  Caught a couple pike minnows too but didn't take pictures of those.  They sure thump a fly though.  I didn't have fish finder with me so don't know the water temp, but sure feels cold.

Launched from Korth's.  Less pedaling than from B&W to get out to San Joaquin.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing.

I prefer fly fishing whenever possible but it's usually in smaller rivers / eastern sierras and 99% of the time for trout.  I've always thought how fun it must be to get stripers on a fly rod, but for some reason haven't looked into it before until now...  I'll have to do my research on it now.  Have you ever tried on the american river for them?  Or is it typically always in the delta?  I've seen quite a few surface lately up here so just curious

I've not fished the American before stripers before (I only started fishing for them this Fall...)  I've been doing a little reading on it and it seems like stripers are in the American year round.  Having said that, I will likely start poking around the lower parts of the American April-ish and continue on from there if it's productive.

I've fished the American for stripers.  They are in there year round, but are more active during certain parts of the year.  There are monsters too, I know of a coupe caught over 20 pounds.  Watt down to the college is a good area, launch at Arden, peddle up to Watt and drift down to the college.  And I like to float from Hazel down to Sunrise also.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Sounds good, thanks for the details.  I just asked about the American since I bike along the trail quite a lot and have recently seen quite a few caught at Guy West bridge.  I was pretty surprised, I knew they were in there all year but they were pretty decent sized ones consistently caught..

I remember seeing some InformativeFisherman youtube video on stripers in the american in that area so maybe I'll just have to give it a shot
