Thanks for sharing Nawm! Another point of data, my pup has a limp and the walker gave us some CBD. It seems to help. The vet agreed but said it is best to get it from a dispensary because they test it well and there is a lot of snake oil out there.

PS: dog hasn't got the munchies yet.

Thanks for the write up Cappy! Clears up some mystique from my youth. I spent many lazy days fishing on the Russian. I mostly taught myself to flyfish pulling smallmouth from around the stumps on poppers. Some of the best memories of my adolescence.  I would find a few Shadflies, with bludging metal eyes, snagged on the stumps.  I imagined madmen fishing when the river was full, which is a scary thought.

Looking at your beautiful pics, and 40 years later, it appears great fun.

Thank you.

You're a good dad! Some of my best memories of fishing are sunfish with a cane pole from an Indiana river. Like he said, doesn't matter what you are catching.

Awesome pictures Scarlyt! Glad you scored. What are you shooting those pics with?

Sea Wolf guys were legit last fall for Crab/ Rockfish. They obviously know the coast well.

Through California Canoe and Kayak:
https://www.calkayak.com/classes/kayak-fishing-classes/

If we get a group together, Sou said he would teach the Surf Zone class.  I feel more confident in this area, but of course there is lots to learn.

Be safe!

Michael, you really remembered so much if what Sou taught us.  Good to go over it again by reading. Under stress, we always revert back to how we trained, so training right is important.

I also thought it was important when Sou showed us during a assisted rescue that when assisting it really helps to initially lift the side of the kayak closest to you, thus lowering the deck height on the side of the person getting out of the water.  THEN appling pressure downward on the side near you to counter balance. The person entering their kayak should, at that point be holding in to your stable kayak.  Done smoothly, this process makes it much easier to get out of the water.

It was great to meet you Michael! Be safe.

Another NCKA member and I took the CCK Rescue class last Saturday in Oakland. Sou was the instructor. He has been teaching for 15 years and it is evident. It was everything I hoped for and I feel well worth the time and money.  He provided options in technique and equipment for different abilities and physical conditions.

I surfed sketchy sections of our coast for years and feel very (respectfully) comfortable in the ocean, but I still came away with a  much stronger sense of kayak specific confidence.

Be safe!

Not trying to highjack but took a rescue class at California Canoe and Kayak Oakland this past Saturday. Wow! Best money I've spent in a while. Highly recommend.

We were just down there this weekend (with the dog!). Damn, I better check the kids again. They do say it takes 24 hours to get infected once bitten.

I got a sucker on me weed whacking the yard at Timber Cove (North). I put it in alcohol and sent it to bayarealyme.org. It was free and they test for the 8 different blood diseases you can get from ticks. All negative thank God. Unfortunately, that organization had to halt taking new cases because they were overwhelmed with samples.

Take Lyme's seriously! It can really screw up your life.

Man, that is so encouraging. Watching Timber Cove North collapse has been really depressing. Thank you!

Thank you. I shared with family who have small kids. My daughter quietly slipped under in a Marin jaccuzi when she was three.  A reptile part of my brain pulled her up without conscious thought.  Still dont know how I did it.

Priceless with your son there!  I've so not used my DJI Spark because Im afraid of fly-aways, so whats the point.  I'm gonna use it and if its lost so be it.  Move on.  DJI is Chinese military subsidized anyway.

Thanks for sharing! I surfed there a bit when younger. It seems like a good place and perfect day for a maiden voyage. It must have been thrilling.
