Going after first Kayak Sturgeon on friday april 6th . Did some scouting last few days , and metered fish OFF THE SCALE !!!!

I plan on fishing the San Joaquin . This will be my first Yak Dino attempt ,so company is wellcome. Its gonna be a fullmoon -tide at 132 pm .Plan on launching at Ladds Marina at 930-10 am. LETS GET EM!!! PEACE OUT....Jose

Took all four of my kids fishing today at Oak Grove Regional Park in Stockton . I ran around like a mad man for two hour Baiting hooks,casting ,untangling but it was GREAT.LOL. All the kids came away with 5 trout limit ,lots of laughs smiles and great memories. The lake is stocked by DFG . Last thursday it was stocked and DFG website lets you know the week it will be stocked ,but no specific days. We used Power eggs (orange) tipped with Power worm (pink at my little girls request). Right before we left I caught 1 on little rapala. Great place to take little ones or just get out for a lazy day of fishing. Its 5 dollars to park and 5 dollars for fish permit ,lots of trails and a Disc golf coarse , playground, bathrooms. Very kid friendly! Got into the strippers on 14 mile slough @ San Jouaquin River ! Been fishing my whole life , but never off a kayak. It was awsome ! Found clear water and Strippers!! Kept a 27inch & a 23inch strippers ,and released 7 from 15" to 22"(Schoolies ,but metered some very BIG fish. Some good size schools. Caught and released 3 nice 12"-16" Blackbass on a rattletrap. The strippers came trolling a Float Rapala & a med depth rapala .. It was a day to remember! Also broke in new Lowrance Elite 4 ,its awsome and put me on the fish. The best part is I launched in my back yard ! Got pics ,but I need to get my son to show me how to post pics . Sorry I am not tech savy , but Iam learning. Thanks to everyone that has posted, its been a great sorce of info and made transition into Kayak fishing alot easier..............Peace Out!

General Fishing Tips / New to Kayak fishing / Diving

Hello, Iam new to forum and Kayak fishing . Iam life long fisherman ,freshwater,saltwater. I have no kayak experience! Any imput would be greatly appreciated. I freedove and spearfished 20 years ago ,once again any advice . looking for some used freedive gear and input on what gear I need to get started . Iam 5'-11" 200lbs any leads would be great. I live on a tributary of San Joaquin River. And have landed my share of Sturgeon , but never in a yak ! I would love to hear any tips . Last ,Great Forum! Stoked I found it!
