What are your thoughts on salmon fishing in the American River (between Howe and J st) on the 25th?  Too early in the season?

The AR is down to a trickle and way warm. I'll do a scouting trip in that area later this week. If conditions dont change soon, they wont be in the system till Oct.

It legit looks like it's not even connected in portions.  Same with most of the Eels.
I'd rather be swinging...

Just saw only 600cfs in Dreamflows for the AR below Natoma. Yikes.

Several launch sites are now closed due to low flows.

Checked several spots on the AR from the hatchery all the way down to Paradise. Nothing, no wakes, rises or jumps. Talked to a few that were trying but they had no luck. Even the Feather river has been real slow and it usually turns on several weeks before the American. I'll check it out again next week but I wouldn't waste your time if you have to travel any distance to get here.

My neighbor got a couple out of Knights Landing on Sac River last week. Flow is about 5000 cfm there, nice and wide, fairly easy to paddle, pedal upstream but packed on weekend with boats.

Fished the AR last Saturday 9/25. Nothing for me but I did see 4 landed between 6-7am. Dead after that. So there's a few coming thru but still not what it should be. We were hammering them there this time last year.
