You can get weather updates on Garmin InReach I think

This looks like a pretty good article on the various options:

Thank you nowhereman and ex- kayaker

Hi Ex-kayaker, thanks for your so detail information!
Would you please recommend some commercial level equipment for cold whether?  I really worry the cold and wet weather, so far i bought some clothes but all common use, not that good for cold weather

And for weather forecast,  I was told that between Port Hardy to Duke Island almost 400 mile, there will be no cell phone signal coverage, no way to get the weather forecast for me, that is challenge, but I have to handle it by myself.

My first concern is cold. I really need good quality clothes……

Just got back from Sitka.

I've watched a bunch of R2AK videos

Is there a decent/reasonable hotel near the ARW that my gear and kayak would survive the night? The kayak would be in the back of my truck, I could put a lock cable on it for the honest people. Should I look for a ground floor room and just unload everything?

I don't know if sleeping in your truck is an option for your but that's what I do sometimes.

Sam and I had so much fun! We’re already looking forward to next year!

We packed up the rig on Thursday morning and hit the road around noon. Easy drive up to the lake. We relaxed Thursday. Fished a little Friday. Fished Saturday. Fished a little Sunday and hit the road home around noon.

Great company, great food, great fun!

Some highlights were everyone coming through when Sams downrigger weight and release went to the bottom of the lake. Julian, Troy, and Brian all came through to get us back up and running! Me falling out of my kayak and into into the lake while trying to help out a dead motorboat. Sam getting a hook past the barb directly into her thumb, but having some medical staff in the group resolved it quickly without drama (thanks Brie!). A great potluck with everyone. Brian being kind enough to Ken me try out his PA14 (tempting boat for sure!). A out of bald eagles beating up an osprey to steal his fish. The monster carp that were trained to be hand fed at the marina, and the big trout lurking a few feet below hoping for scraps. The goddamn hill that gets me every time ugh!

It was a great weekend. Weather was great. Fishing was great. Company was great. Thanks Kevin and Brian and everyone else that made it possible!

Here is my photo dump from the weekend, thank you Eric and everyone to a great introduction to GS and had a blast with the NCKA community!

Fished my favorite method of a live blue but had no luck and I'm pretty sure I ended up submitting the smallest rockfish, at the time I was unaware you could simply not report LOL. Fun times everyone! Got a glimpse of the baby orcas' dorsal, and it was the largest dorsal I have ever seen!

Heres what it looks like suspended on the fish finder.
