Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Alameda 9/24 & 9/25
« on: September 29, 2022, 01:32:34 PM »
Maybe was, I was trolling on my olive hobie using a 2hp outboard I recently mounted. Fish were biting deeper, 20-25ft which is about a mile to a mile and a half from the encinal launch. If it makes you feel better, I went back out the day after (Sunday, 9/25) and only managed a couple scratched baits. Sometimes it’s just a right place, right time kind of day [emoji2369]

Launched encinal boat ramp both days, the docks are back up which is nice. Tides weren’t ideal but worth checking out after a decent coastside report and instagram post from Wednesday. Launched at 9am Saturday and 11am Sunday. Was under 2hp outboard power Saturday and foot power Sunday. Fish bit mostly in 20’ to 25’ with Saturday being the productive day. Had about a dozen bites, 5 or 6 shorts, and 2 keepers. Wind was ideal and let me fish to 3pm comfortably. 25 and 23inches. Sunday much slower, 2 or 3 bites, one stripped bait and nothing stuck. Blown off by 2:30.  Silver flasher, frozen spawn herring with white hootchies.

I’m heading up this Friday. Was anything biting besides bass? I’d like to target trout if possible.

Hi NCKA folks,

IÂ’m thinking about spending several days on the North Coast (Salt Point or north-er) with my kayak. Camping probably. IÂ’m looking at that first week in August. Any recommendations?

IÂ’d be interested in targeting salmon, ling, rockfish, or anything else youÂ’d recommend. Halibut up there?

IÂ’m also planning on doing some snorkel spear fishing, if the visibility allows.

Happy to meet up with some folks, if anyoneÂ’s interested.

Super pleased to find this forum. You all seem like solid dudes. (“Dude” being cross-gender in my vocabulary.)
I’ll be camping at Salt point July 30-Aug 1 and targeting rockfish and lings. Will that overlap your trip? I don’t have any knowledge or experience with salmon or halibut in the area.

14th Annual Surf Movie Fundraiser
SATURDAY, MARCH 13th 2021
HEART OF THE SEA

We are pleased to introduce our 2021 Annual Surf Movie Fundraiser. Heart of the Sea, this year’s truly inspiring movie, will be hosted virtually via Crowdcast (similar to Zoom).

We will also feature special films by Powerlines Productions of Peter Mel, Bianca Valenti, and other iconic rides during this epic 2020/2021 Mavericks season. To continue our tradition, we have invited special guests to join us. So be prepared to not only see Mavericks waves but to hear from Maverick stars who rode them. And meet a friend of Rell Sunn.

This year, we are giving you the special opportunity to choose your ticket price. 1 ticket is valid for 1 household and based on the size of your wallet (and heart) you can choose between different supporting levels. If you would like to contribute more, feel free to purchase multiple tickets.

So get comfy, make some popcorn (or support your local small business by ordering takeout), get your beverages of choice and enjoy our 14th annual surf movie night.

Thank you for supporting Earth Month and our annual programs to keep our beaches and ocean clean, restore habitat and connect people to the earth! Thank you to our partner Pedro Point Surf Club. And in the spirit of Rell Sunn, ALOHA!

Time & Location
This year, because of COVID-19 and the county regulations, our movie night is going to happen online (read below for all details).
So we will meet you online at 7:30PM.

Just stopped by. No diving birds. No seals or lions. Lots of cormorants and other birds staging. A few gulls and pelicans flying around. I’ll go again around 4 after work and throw a net

I’ll be visiting family near the San Luis Obispo coast from Sunday, September 22 through Wednesday, September 25 and would love to hit the ocean in the area of my youth while down there. I don’t have a clue what would be available to target and where to launch (hoping some of you can throw out some recommendations), but I’m sure I can stop along the big sur coast on my way home Wednesday and try for those big reds. Based on my last trip to big sur, I’d be bringing rockfish and lingcod gear and target them in SoCal as well.

If anyone is around the central/south coast and wants to meet up Monday or Tuesday (Sep 23 or 24), let me know. Same goes for Wednesday Sep 25 in big sur. Thanks and tight lines!
Dan

No diving. Was just dressed for immersion. Seems like a great place to spear though. Will definitely be back with scuba gear.

Thanks everyone! I knew I should have brushed up on the regs before going to a place that has zero signal! Oh well, I’ll be back before too long.
