Title: New Kayak C&R Shirt from GreenFish
Post by: bgodber on December 03, 2010, 07:07:17 AM
Hello - by way of intro - this is my first post, wanted to chime in. I am an avid kayak angler and the founder of a new apparel company called GreenFish. We are the first pro fishing apparel brand completely dedicated to promoting responsible fishing. We just came out with a killer new Kayak Tee and wanted to drop this crowd a note to get some feedback on it.....

Also - Through our GreenFish Gives program, every time someone buys gear on our site, they can select one of our non-profit partners to donate a portion of the proceeds to (we give up 10-20% of our margin for this and it goes directly to our partners).

Get yours at http://www.greenfishmovement.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=18 (http://www.greenfishmovement.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=18)

thanks!

I really like the 1% for the planet and will be looking to order a tee soon.
Welcome to the maddness and looking to hear more about this about you (maybe a fishing report).

See Ya soon,

Eric you are such a nice guy!  You too Allen.

Just to confirm Eric's prediction......

Bah, humbug! (1st post commercial)

Ok I guess it's time for me to release MY new line of Kayak T's.  "CBE Tees"

Caught, Beaten, and Eaten.   (But responsibly, of course)

Look for artwork soon.  Available for Christmas, or President's Day and % of every sale goes to Mooch.

Your first post has to do with a commercial product? Sounds fishy to me. Dead fishy!

1st post a commercial/advertisement? Hmmm...

I like your idea and wish you luck. WTTM.
Also I mainly fish for food, select harvest of course.
Did the whole Bass Tourney thing spent thousands on C&R.

Why we got to be suspect all the time?

The Greenfish Movement counts some Kayak Fishing luminaries such as Jim Sammon, Jeff Krieger, and Chris Mautino amongst their ambassadors.

No doubt. Check out his link before you try to bash the man. GreenFish was one of the sponsors of the Steve Moyer Memorial Tournament. (Thanks for the stickers, BTW, GreenFish!)

GreenFish is pushing for ETHICAL catch and release...not just catch and release. Their message is if you want to keep some fish, fine...but if you choose to release that fish; release it ethically.

Tough crowd! I enjoy the passion.

Rock Hopper & Allen -THANKS, great assessment.

All of our Ambassadors are huge anglers, as am I.

Jim, Chris and Jeff know me and know our stance on balancing conservation while helping save the sport or recreational fishing. From day one we have supported orgs that are helping fight the MLP battle - check our GreenFish Gives program and partners.

Also - we promote MORE C&R - not 100%. I personally love a fresh fish taco. Ive just made a commitment to keep LESS fish than I used to, especially now that I have kids and am getting them into the sport.

I welcome any other questions - we are a new company but really do have the right intentions - trying to spread the message of responsible fishing, improving our fisheries while keeping the sport alive for a long time - and making some cool apparel at the same time.

Promoting products on first post is always suspect but agreed, we should check before judging.
See the "about" and ambassadors" pages: '
http://www.greenfishmovement.com/scripts/aboutus.asp (http://www.greenfishmovement.com/scripts/aboutus.asp)
http://www.greenfishmovement.com/scripts/ambassadors.asp (http://www.greenfishmovement.com/scripts/ambassadors.asp)

Unlike non-profit groups, government agencies, or militant anti-fishing conservationists, the sole purpose of GreenFish is to spread the message of conservation by persuasion--not coercion or browbeating. Our goal is to change minds and habits through our brand, relationships, donations and products.

All who have commercial interests, I'm not saying that is wrong just good to know.

Fair enough.

But that furthers the real point I was trying to make.  Endorsements don't come lightly when people's reputations are on the line.

Note: I am in no way advocating for the greenfishmovement (yet), mostly because I don't know enough about them to pass judgment one way or the other.

Primarily as an individual but I do also have a business so when appropriate I may post new product updates. We have some new products coming out this spring geared towards kayak anglers so Im psyched about that. But - primarily for networking. I personally live in SoCal but my wife's family is in the bay area so I get up that way a lot. Im thinking of keeping a yak up north and figured it would be good to get to know the community up your way. I also just like learning about kayak fishing trends / species in other parts of the country. No hidden agendas - Im just an avid kayak angler and I like networking and seeing whats happening elsewhere!

What's wrong with the Dodgers?
I've been a fan my whole life - and I haven't tried to make anything off Nor-Cal Kayakanglers, in fact I believe I have given away more than most here.

Don't worry - I still love you guys and am planning the 2011 events as we type :smt005

(Maybe penalize points for all Giants fans :smt044 )

Detective Mickfish!!!

Welcome to a constant moral dilemma.  Someone brought this up in another post, the world in not black and white.

SD Coastkeeper does some good work, just not some good work on the MLPA.

BTW, Alaskan Brewing Co. is also a major sponsor of SD Coastkeeper.  I certainly hope that money didn't go towards the MLPA effort as I've drank a lot of their IPA's.   :smt010

I think that you hurt when you can Boycotting REI won't have much effect they don't sell fishing gear or much Kayak gear if you didn't think REI was leaning ECO than you have been in a cloud, but if you can get all fisherman except Greenfish to Boycott Alaska Brewing it's going to hurt them.

Yeah, but what if the majority of the Alaskan Brewing donations were for beach cleanup?

Then they should earmark their donations for only that and make it known or speak out against MLPA process.

They may not even know ...

They set up this organization ... http://www.coastalcode.org/alaskan-ipa/ (http://www.coastalcode.org/alaskan-ipa/)
