Fish Talk / "What a Fish Knows"- Jonathan Balcombe
« on: June 21, 2016, 12:46:24 PM »
Greetings,

I caught the end of an interview yesterday on Fresh Air with Jonathan Balcombe, the writer of a new book "What a Fish Knows."   It seemed to focus on fish intelligence and sentience.

Seemed like some here might be interested in it.

For Sale / Truck Bed Utility Trailer
« on: June 20, 2016, 11:32:54 AM »
Greetings,

I'm selling a utlity trailer made out of a "70s Chevy truck bed.  If someone on here is interested I would love to not have to deal with craigslist.  I used it for work but no longer need it.  Interior bed dimensions are 8' x 5'.  Plenty of life left in tires.

TOW YOUR YAK IN STYLE!!!

Pink slip in hand and registered through 2020.

$500 OBO

Cheers
D

Re posting this, pretty apparent urchin population needs to go down.

Wow, that is a depressing read.  Interesting that CDFW use a wordpress blog to distribute news.

That is awesome!

Safety First / Re: Drowning at Lake Del Valle

This group had been wine tasting throughout the day and then continued to drink while at the lake.

Sad part is they could have walked back on short flat trail from where they were partying but chose to pack into a tiny boat.

Shame.

Eh Bruddahs,

Thanks for the tips. Seems like the Trevala 6'6" or 7' medium-light might be a good possibity. Is there an place in the BayArea where I could check a rod like that out?
I live in Oakland.

Mahalo,

Hio Bruddah,

If you haven't already bought it, I picked up my Trevala 6'6 M at Discount Mart’s Bay Tackle & Sporting Goods in El Cerrito.  They have a pretty good selection and reasonably friendly staff.

Cheers,
Diego

Greetings All,

This is my first post so bear with me.  I took my new used trident 15 (thanks Finaegelin!) over to San Pablo Reservoir last Tuesday to try it out.  I have years of canoeing experience but am relatively new to SOTs so wanted to get to know the handling and nuances as well as hopefully catch some fish.

Tried deep trolling some rapalas in the main channel near the dam for a while then drifted along the western side to the pines. No luck. I then posted up north of the big slide area and tried for some cats but as well saw no action. Downtrodden, I began hoisting the anchor and realized I had latched onto something large.  Knowing my luck I was pretty sure it was gonna be a corpse but when it reached the surface I found myself the new owner of a Minn Kota Endura 40 trolling motor with a Garmin transducer attached.  Doesn't look like it had been down there too long. I am going to try to take it apart and clean it this weekend then let it dry for a month or so before testing it.  All in all a fun day!

Cheers,
Diego

Introductions / Greetings All
« on: October 20, 2014, 09:04:38 PM »
Hello Everyone,

After lurking around this forum for over a year, I finally took the plunge purchased my first SOT fishing kayak today.  I've been a shore and surf fisher for years but have been wanting to expand my horizons.  I look forward to interacting with you all in the future and hearing more good advice as I make this transition onto the water.

Cheers,
Diego
