Thanks for all the comments.  If you have a opportunity to take out your kids, sws is pretty good most of the time.  We been out in almost every condition, but we are pretty well prepared for full immersion. (GPS/Radio, whistle, life jackets, and friends nearby) Safety is always priority, then FUN!!!  It is always extra work for me to do both and by the time I get home I am totally exhausted.

Short clip but fun day out at sws last sat.  Things Ethan learned:

-cabezon legal size (we released it, barely 15"")
-releasing smaller fish for it to grow
-you do not throw the net at dad in the water and hit him in the face
-you dont free spool when stuck on a rock (no rock but hooked 2 rockfish)
-you dont pull up on the rod when dad is trying to bait the line (hooked my gloves)
-when dad says paddle, that means paddle to dad not the damn shore (had to swim back with no fins)

None the less, we has a awesome bonding time in the water doing what we love.

Be safe when sailing to catalina.  There was a recent report of two kayakers going that direction that had to call the coast guard due to weather shift.  Load it up with lots of safety gear.

Awesome!!! How was the uni inside?

The uni were tasty....some had big gonads and some on the small side.
Have seen worse and also better.

One of the abs was really fat and the other not as meaty. Both were over 9-3/4 ".

Not a lot of bull kelp in the area although there were plenty other varieties of seaweed in the area.
Thank you, hope that when the bull kelp comes back, they are back to normal
