Kinda looks like my plans to go fish SC tomorrow might get canceled. So I'm thinking about trying to go out to the Sonoma coast in the morning. The wx kinds looks like crap though. Possibly blowing 10+ all morning. What is the most amount of wind you feel like is still fishable and not super iun comfortable?

Wondering if anyone has been fishing the  Russian at all? I've been putting in a few hrs each day up above Cloverdale and have had no luck. No bites, no rolling fish, no jumping fish. I know the river is a lil higher than when I've normally fished. I've tried lures and bait with multiple colors of cookies. I've tried small, medium and big pieces of roe for nada. Sorry to be a whiner but I'm not sure if it's me or the river. Thanks for any help fellas.

Thanks for the offers and input guys. Sorry for lagging I got super busy with friends and family before the holiday. I ended up getting a tarpon 120. The price was extremely reasonable and left some money for new tackle and a finder. Still waiting to get it wet though  :smt012

Thanks for the help Charles. I found out its a 2008. It comes with turbo fins and a color fish finder with battery. The price is 2k. Do you think its worth it? I'm kinda leary about it being so old and possibly having cracks in the hull or developing them soon.

Thanks a lot for all the help guys!! I don't have somebody who knows kayaks very well to go with me, so I'm on my own for this. Do you guys find it difficult to get this boat loaded up by yourself? It weighs 20+ lbs more than my previous boat.

Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a used mirage drive hobie and I've never used one. So I was hoping to get some tips on what I should be looking for to test the boats quality. Looks very well taken care of from the pics I've seen of it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Collapsible crab traps?
« on: December 04, 2013, 03:38:37 PM »
Thanks man, I think I'm gonna go with a couple of those promars. The area I am gonna be fishing is 50-65 ft deep. How much extra rope and weight should I have on there? I was thinking 20' should do it for the rope and maybe a few extra single pound wights in the trap.

General Fishing Tips / Collapsible crab traps?

I am looking to buy a few crab traps for my kayak and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for brands and styles they like. I was thinking collapsible for storage sake but I'm also open to non-collapsible. Thanks for any input. :smt001

General Talk / Southern swell
« on: September 06, 2013, 04:25:45 PM »
I was wondering if a southern swell had any affect on the fishing around the Sonoma coast. When I lived in Santa Cruz the south swell would shut down the fishing, but that could have been cause it was in a bay. Any ideas?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Fort Ross sep7th
« on: September 06, 2013, 02:07:59 PM »
Hey buddy, I'm trying to get something together for Saturday as well. I was also thinking Ross. Last time we got 2 keeper lings and a cabby right off the edge of the kelp beds to the left. The parking lot sits above the beach and you can drive down to the bottom where there is a gate and you can unload your boat there. But try to be quick if there are other people trying to get down and launch. From there it is maybe 1/4 mile hike to the water. Hopefully see you out there and best of luck. Also low tide is at 6:30 so you dont have to get there too early. I'll be on a blue tandem kayak.
