I don't imagine there is much snow to blast this year, eh?

I hiked to a few high altitude lakes last year (highest was 9400'), am going to try for peaks higher than 10k this year.

We set some off of our own today. Our mission was the cornices in those canyons. Not much in the way of snow mass, I was certifying blasters today. 2Kg sticks of emulsion hand placed. Squaw Valley blasters are awesome, they did everything picture perfect. Sorry no other photos, we were taking refuge at the time we shot them from on the mountain, but here is the peaks we had to ski and climb to get the job done. I am whooped and hurt from head to toe, I am out of shape bad.

Are recoilless rifles still in use?

I wanted to bump this one.  I've been looking for it a while now.  Beginning to think I made it up in my head. Finally found it and it brought a tear and laughter.  Again.

Bushy

Really got a kick out of the snake picture!  FWIW, I have 15 snakes and most of them are adult King and Milk snakes.

What gets me is that when I check the messages there is never a message!  There will be one "click" and that is it.  You would think after countless calls they would give up when no one answers the phone..........I tried blocking the calls but they use banks of phones so that does not work.

Anyway to get rid of annoying robocalls?  We never answer the phone anymore and let it go to message.  We sometimes get up to 4 robocalls a day and now they are calling at night, sometimes after 9 or 10 pm which never used to happen.  I added our phone # to the National Do Not Call Registry several months ago which seems to not have done a damn thing.  I wish there was some way to fry their circuits through the phone on the asshats that are behind the robocall crap.

That price for your Tahoe is very inexpensive, what kind of tires are they?  I paid almost twice that for 4 BFG All Terrain for a 4x4 Tacoma and slightly less for 4 Michelins on another Tacoma, all from America's Tire.

Have you seen the remake of War of the Worlds?  Saw the movie set at Universal Studios and it was realistic enough that with a lot of smoke it would have been freaky.

Hobie Kayaks / Re: fellow pro angler owners

I have a 09 14' PA, added a stretchy net made for holding gear on the back of motorcycles to the back of my seat so I can stuff my jacket and anything else that will fit.

I jumped in with both feet and bought a Hobie Pro Angler (14') in the summer of 09, at that time the PA's had not been out that long and no one had any demo units so I bought one without a demo run.  Both shoulders had torn rotator cuffs and I was not able to use a paddle yak, don't ask me how I managed to load and off load that pig of a PA all those years mostly by myself and I am not a spring chicken.  I also bought a Hobie OB for my son at around the same time.

General Talk / National Do Not Call Registry
« on: November 13, 2014, 01:12:26 PM »
We have been getting up to four or more robocalls a day, some days will go by with no calls and some days the calls are more numerous.  I tried blocking the calls which did nothing and that leads me to believe they are robocalls.  My wife told me that several times she selected the "remove me from future calls" selection on several of the calls which was probably a mistake.  We now never answer the phone and let it go to the answering machine to screen the calls.  I finally got fed up and added our phone number to the National do not call registry which can take up to 31 days to work.  Anyone else have horror stories about phone calls?
