General Talk / Smith River Steelhead Hunt - Watching, Hoping, Waiting
« on: February 11, 2017, 09:45:58 PM »
Been keeping my eye on some of my favorite waters up north and it looks like this week should look good on the Smith. Everywhere else looks pretty blown out.

Does anyone on here live in the area? Have you drove 199 lately? whats the water color like? Was hoping to leave tomorrow come back Thursday. Any help would be great, any joiners if its good are welcome!

Two Jackets, one black one Grey. Both XL

THIS IS THE 2016 "Bulkley" MODEL NOT THE OLD STYLE - Best insulated weatherproof jacket (NOT SHELL) on the market by far!

YouTube Video Review link:

Action Link:

Brand new, never worn, still has tags and original plastic wrap. Got the wrong size a few months ago, spaced on the return, no luck in that department. My loss someones gain.

I have both black and grey. I bought two. Paid @ $450 for the jackets at FishWest.com (MSRP is $459) the lowest price on the internet is $459.

I really would like to get around $375 for one or $650 for two. If you are an avid cold weather / steelhead / rainy day fishermen and know the product SIMMS make as they are THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Don't settle for a jacket that will last only a year or so, this will last at least 10 or more (my last SIMMS Jacket has).

Just as the title says, I bought them with excitement and impulse but don't like the way they fit my head... Amazing visual clarity with the BEST polarized glass lenses in the market.

Warrantied for life, comes with original box, case, lens cleaner sticker, etc. Seriously they were worn for about an hour and I just wasn't impressed with their fit on my face. I tried to give them a shot, its been over a month since I bought them, so I cannot return them. My loss your gain, plus I have another pair that fit great, would like to take a little back from what I paid to buy another pair of the ones I like... (The "Rafael")

These are $269 in stores (almost $300 after taxes). They honestly are well worth it if you havent owned a pair of Costa's... you wouldn't know. Ive had Smiths, Oakleys, and every other brand out there that claim their polarization is #1... NOTHING COMPARES TO COSTA... Think of it as a set of Wheeleez.. You don't want to pay the $$ for a kayak cart, but after you do, you wonder why you never made the purchase sooner!!

They are custom made too... Flat black frames with blackout logos and have the 580 G (made from glass so scratch and weather resistant) Blue Mirror Polarized Lenses (for ocean / sunny days).

Asking $150 obo... you won't find these cheaper ANY where. Like I said, basically brand new with lifetime warranty and everything! A great way to get yourself into the best fishing / sunglasses in the market without breaking the bank (like I unfortunately did).

Feel free to PM or respond, I will try to respond ASAP. Thanks!

Here is a link to the glasses I have: https://www.costadelmar.com/shop/sunglasses/tuna-alley-1/13152

So of course I caught wind of this the day it came out to press but I wanted to let anyone interested in buying a new Stealth 14 to hold off til fall... I wanted to let you know about the new X-Seat...

It looks pretty awesome and seems to be a great upgrade to an already amazing platform.. Can't wait until I can get the new 2017 Stealth 14!!!

A little info from Malibu:

Malibu Kayaks X-Seat

Announcing the all new, innovative seating system, the X-Seat!  With upwards of 4 positions and full adjustability, this stadium style high/low seat combines all the top-quality features kayak anglers expect, with the versatility Malibu Kayaks is known for.

The X-Seat transitions easily into over 4 different positions, providing up to an additional 24 inches in height.  Both the bottom and back rest provide a full range of motion, and can be folded up completely, allowing standing room and access to the included casting post.  The interlocking design allows the user safety and stability when on the water, while still being able to remove the seat in seconds, for use as a beach or camp chair.

Our designers spent over 2 years developing an ergonomic design featuring lumbar support and a high back frame, and the open sliding allows for maximum comfort and maneuverability while paddling.  The frame is made of high-grade aluminum, making the seat not only durable, but lightweight.  An anodized finish increases the oxide layer on the metal, further maximizing the frame’s resistance to any corrosion or wear.  Coupled with a  UV resistant, moisture wicking, and breathable 3-D mesh fabric, the X-Seat has already been heralded by experts as one of the finest on the market.

Due to required mold modifications, the X-Seat will only be available on the new 2017 models.

As I was observing boiling stripers my mad dash to them made me totally forget that my phone was exposed, I dropped it along the sprint and it got washed away in the incoming tide. Super bummed tons of family photos... It has a lifeproof case but I cannot locate it on Find my iPhone.. So I think I am SOL.

I dont want to pay $$$$$ for a new phone... I just bought this one in Feb..

Willing to pay 0-$150 for any iphone 5 or newer that is Verizon or ATT... I had a 6S Plus... wouldnt mind having a 5 again.. I have a brand new lifeproof case for it.. so it would work out for the best.. anything helps, tried Craigslist already, everythings a drive and $200+

For Sale / FS: Hully Rollers - Great Shape- $35
« on: July 13, 2016, 10:38:16 AM »
Asking $35

I have two sets of Mako Saddles and Rollers (4 makos in total and 4 rollers) $35 a set... work great still in great shape

Located in Santa Cruz, can bring to the PIF event, or meet anywhere in the Monterey / Santa Cruz Bay area.

Have all hardware needed. Bought them for $40, found out they needed the Mighty Mount bracket for my racks... Made some for a set of my Mako Saddles.. decided to keep it the double mako setup.. my loss your gain!

12
Awesome Transducer... Just too big for my kayak, basically brand new.. Got it with my Elite 7.... Wish my hull wasnt as crazy narrow as it is or it would be a no brainer why I would keep it.

It would work perfect to shoot through any Ocean Kayak, Perception, Hobie, Jackson, or Wildy... Probably more but those yaks I am more familiar with.

Its the Big Boy, best one that Lowrance Makes, works on all HDI, Chirp and Hook Series FF's. Great primarily for Ocean fishing.. Salmon / Tuna Trolling / Deep Rockfishing.. Reads deep readings a ton better then our 83/200 lake transducers most of us use.

They sell it for $250 alone on their site and on sale on the internet for just over $220... Also Power / NMEA cable (PC-30-RS422 Power Cable) included ($35 at Cabelas) http://lr.factoryoutletstore.com/details/57998/lowrance-000-10977-001.html?category_id=71653&catalogitemid=55202

I will include all mounting brackets, Cables, 3amp Fuse Relay and Fuse, as well as a POWER cable... Asking $200 obo (to be honest.. I just want to make my money back from the 83/200 I had to buy... make an offer I would rather it not sit around telling me to buy something for it... as well as it to go to a good home)

PERFECT SETUP FOR A SPARE YAK OR IF YOU HAVE A UNIT AND NO CABLES!

Here are some Details from Lowrance:

Malibu Kayaks / 2016 Malibu Stealth14 Build
« on: June 13, 2016, 07:52:29 PM »
Well I was going to wait until Sunday to join the crew out in SC to bring this beauty out in its maiden voyage, but I just couldn't wait. Finished the build on Wednesday and decided early Friday morning to paddle out and go with a light setup for a break in paddle with the new setup.

Last year, I finally (after months searching) found an XFactor which I got directly from Malibu. I will post a seperate review on that yak another time as I do have a GoPro edit I put together last year (I am currently working on this one as I get the time)..

Anyways... This was not only the first time I paddled the boat, but I broke it in very nicely, scoring 3 flatties (2 of which I would rather not like to talk about) a ton of lings, rockfish and a 17" cabby. So she's got her fish zen going on already!

About the boat:
2016 Malibu Kayaks Stealth 14

-same hull as the xfactor but a little more room on the top deck

-33" wide which is incredible for how fast it tracks and how straight it tracks. Not to mention I can stand up on it in 2-3 ft swells with ease and threw in a little "walking the plank" tests while drifting for halibut

-14'6 long and only 65lbs!!!

-13" deep seat height which gives it the perfect location of seat positioning

-550lb weight rating

-huge "gator" hatch for maximum storage as well as a seat for a youngin or old guy like me to get toes on the nose and enjoy a beverage while trolling

-4 rod holders built in and I added 2 rocket launchers for trolling

-installed a Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp.. Took a very long time to make this decision as I've always had the 4.. However I doubt I'll ever go back.. Even with beach launches I love it and don't think it will ever leave my yak

- it comes with a built in live well ready for you to setup, however I've chose that spot for my tackle and accessories, having all my gear locked down in water tight compartments is pretty awesome!! I am making a vittles vault hobie style diy live well is in the making.. I have included photos on that as well..

I'm sure I'm missing others.. Oh the seat is the most amazing seat I've owned and I'd suggest you give one a shot for the price and features...

-crack of dawn Paddlesports spider angler seat 2" thick memory foam with a 18" high back for ultimate comfort.. Not to mention, it has two rod holders (I put my fish bat and pliers here), a tackle or storage bag, drink holder, vhf holder, etc...

I'm typing on my phone so I'll update this when I get the YouTube video up, but I had some people asking me about it, glad to say it's finally here!!

And not to mention THIS THING IS BADASS!!

« on: June 06, 2016, 12:44:35 PM »
Just wanting to spread some joy for those having trouble finding squid..
