In any case there are ways to test

That's very interesting some of the very best Rc High performance gliders come from china
This reminds me of when everyone said Japan makes crap but as it turned out a lot for that crap was made to company standards for American companies
Japan also bought an a lot of the stuff back and reused the material
The nation set a higher standard for its self  and we no longer call things from Japan cheap junk
China definitely has the ability to make any standard of tools or parts
They are behind in car but won't be for long
That said some things in china are made for the company and a nite shift using the same materials and skills make the same product for sale elsewhere
On a side note almost all kayaks are made using the same plastic

After getting and striper early today I thougth I'd go back and Cruz around the lake
To check the boils at a few spots I grabbed 2 poles a net
And one tackle box the wind had picked up and I was on my way
Half way there I realize I have no paddle or drive units
It's ok it's hogan I launch I do a beautiful turn off the ramp under sail power and almost instantly realized the amas and Ankas are secured
Did my self rescue potocall lost a pole lost a net lost tie downs gained ten experience points I really don't remember taking the bungs off but I'm the only one that dose anything with the AI
Glade I was in only 20' of warm water
And yes I was wearing my life jacket
I realized I got off easy because just one tackle box    Stuffed with gear vs a cheap rod and reel plus net  I can try to retrieve that stuff tomarrow hopefully

Note to self always check everything every time regardless
Ok I'm done rambling on for now

The boils are almost all year long by September they are normally bigger boils that hold longer that said we have a lot more water this year once you find stripers you will have to work them pretend your bass fishing and throw everything at them until you figure them out  some days it's flukes others top water or jigging
The boils in wrinkle lately are bass
seen more stripers an the mouths of the fingers or up the fingers there are a couple of exceptional coves near the camping areas

Sorry no pic having a problem posting pictures

Fished New Hogan today for about 2hours
Picked up this striper 24-1/2 inches throwing topwater

Starting to look like the weathers starting to turn that's good news for hogan striper fishing
Sep 30th-oct1st looking good

Alviso isn't all that good it used to be better there was very good shark fishing out by Drawbridge before they put in the sewer plant
You can still pick up an occasional sturgeon or striper more likely a ray or leopard shark but it's a great place to harvest ghost shrimp
You would think it should be better than it really is I live around there for sometime and watched the government created silting
Anyway try hmb or the delta the offerings are much better
Time to hit the road good luck

General Talk / Re: Trolling motor batter selection
« on: September 11, 2017, 07:02:29 PM »
Hmm
Well I have a modded electric moter I use sometimes on one of my yaks  and I have a gas motor 2.5 I got with my AI
So I also have a sail guess what the sail is the better option most of the time
But there are some common problems example never sail any farther than your willing to peddle/paddle back same with electric I have a 60lb battery but you can run it down very fast the gas motor is lighter
But loud it's second best for range normally but on a lake like new hogan with sctechy fish it's not a good option when chasing boils
I'm not handy caped but I find it's much easier to troll under sail

One other consideration if you drop your motor the lake   It won't like you
If you drop your battery in the lake will not like you but if you drop your sail it only means you want to paddle for a wile
The battery needs conservative use or short days but the sail will get me there and back if there is only the smallest of winds on a lake

Lowrance can be killed by water as well most ff are rated for some water but not water with force like a wave or even a hard rain

someting that can help is to make a protecting cover you can even add a sun shade for easy reading
I suggest use it plastic sign board
The water. An hit the board but not penetrate the board and it takes little time to make one

73
Well bad news a just took some measurements and the hobbie drive will not work unless I am willing to give up my front hatch
So that's not happening

I my have to keep looking the cable drives they do offer forward and reverse
And it prevents me from needing to cut my deck now if I knew were to buy suitable cable with a housing

74
Not a bad option
The cable drive has some real benefits  but I don't want to drop 800 $
For a system I've never seen up close and personal

I like that piece from the inflatable other than the material it exactly what a had in mind can you tell me how tall it is  hopefully it's a little shorter than I need so I can create spacers

Sep 30 -oct 1 I'll be camping to take advantage of early morning and late nite fishing
One of the camp grounds will be closed but for anyone that wants to there will still be plenty of sites
The fishing should be solid all day by then or just come down for a day and enjoy
