Not sure where to ask this question, thought I’d start here.  I’ve caught three spiny dogfish now this year, read they used to be fished heavily so they’re recovering, however, there’s a daily bag limit of 1 in the regs so I was wondering if anyone has ever kept one and prepared it.  Appreciate any responses.

I had Leopard and Sand sharks and don't think Dogfish meat will be any different.  Just soak the meat in milk overnight to neutralize the ammonia.  Bleeding it will improve the meat too.

Pretty sure that bleeding any shark or ray is critical for meat to be enjoyable. I know for skate on the east you also need to skin them ASAP because of the ammonia. May take a few tried to get right but might want to check the mercury levels in your area, some can get pretty high.
