Safety First / Re: wet suit or Dry suit
« on: September 10, 2014, 04:01:33 PM »
If I remember USCG and Navy Rescue  Swimmers are required to wear dry suits for water temps @ 55 degrees or lower ... I'm sure someone on the site can confirm or deny this ...FWIW

Do surfers, then have to wear dry suits when they go surfing??   :smt005

I almost always clean when I get home.  Bury the guys & such under the trees.  The bucket of water & small debris from sanddabs makes GREAT for the potted fruit trees!

In Morro Bay the parking lot next to the fish cleaning station at the boat launch has turned into a landmine of rotting fish carcasses.. Disgusting. The seagulls are carrying the rotting guts all over the place.. and leaving them after picking at them for a spell.. This seems to be a fairly new phenomenon. I wouldnt throw out the guts solely for the fact that gulls will become wise and start bringing those guts back onto the beach, eventually turning it into a morro bay cleaning station situation.. Just a thought. Much better idea would be to bury the guts in your garden. Excellent organic fertilizer.  :smt004

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Lowrance Elite 3x COLOR Fishfinder

For 100 dollars more and you can get the elite 4 w/ integrated gps.. Is it worth it? The 3x seems like a pretty good deal. Scupper mount xducer or through hull? Hmmm

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Securing a milk crate
« on: July 31, 2014, 07:41:49 PM »
Ok, so I have built a simple milk crate rod holder and I am trying to decide how I want to strap this thing down securely using the existing hardware on my Ride 135.. I really dont want to drill any holes. I do want the crate to be able to make it through a roll over if necessary.. I have already rerouted the bungee that comes on the tank well to make room for the crate.. and Im pretty sure using that flimsy cordage wont do much in the way of keeping this thing secured. My rod holders are zip-tied to the inside of the crate at the corners.. and are 14 inches tall. I also have a heavy duty rectangular crate and some extra pvc, so I may make a second crate as well.. Just need some ideas on how to fasten these things securely.. I was thinking about using some split rings and heavy rubber bungee straps? It just doesnt seem like the factory fasteners that hold the tank well bungee rope in place are up to the job of securing the crate.. I may be wrong..How sturdy are they? Ideas?

Okay, if you can't paddle (and can't peddle), this is a good option.  Craig, you opened my mind.

Until your battery dies and your stuck on the water.  If you can not paddle or pedal, you should not be on the water.  At least never alone.
Solar charger?

Does the new seat fit into the existing hardware or is there an installation required? I have a voucher for the new seat and trying to decide whether or not its worth it. Is it as low as the standard low seat in the low position?
?

Safety First / Re: To Flag, or not to Flag
« on: July 17, 2014, 08:26:33 PM »
Was thinking about this.. How about some sort of clip on flags for fishing rods not in use sitting in the milk crate rocket launchers?? When you want to use the rod, un-clip the flag and there ya go. Just a thought..  :smt003
