Woah!  What a story!   Glad everything turned out OK.

I’ve been caught in the middle of a lightning storm on my motorcycle with bolts landing on both sides of the road around me as I was riding full throttle trying to get to the small patch of blue sky directly ahead of me in hopes of being able to outrun the storm.

I can only imagine the helpless feeling of experiencing the same thing except being on the water with no motor.
