Hi all,

Since kayak fishing has exploded, there are soooo many different choices. I'm a bit of a researcher by nature, and have to constantly fight the urge to go down the rabbit hole. In picking a kayak, I tried to find someone that seemed to be a educated and unbiased in their info, and so I've been drawn to a lot of Dan's reviews at Headwaters. His reviews are how I pretty much narrowed it down (or at least thought I had) to the Crescent LiteTackle or Feel Free's Moken 12.5 V2.

I'm looking for something versatile enough for the Delta and the ocean (near shore and bay). Before finding Headwaters YouTube channel, I was looking at at Ocean Kayaks and Malibu Kayaks, because those were the only brands I'd used before. But that was years ago, wasn't for fishing, and I don't even remember which models I paddled.

I haven't completely eliminated a pedal yak, but no way am I paying what Hobie is asking for new, and I'm a little leary of buying used. I've ran across a lot of people taking about cracked hulls, and that just seems like too big a risk for the money.

While I go down the rabbit hole on "affordable" pedal kayaks, I'd like to hear people's thoughts on how the LiteTackle or Moken will do in the ocean.

Thanks!

Before I moved over to my Hobie outback, I paddled a crescent lite tackle. it is a very capable boat, for the delta and the bay. I actually just had it out on the Sonoma coast last week, and had no problem even with slightly bigger than expected wind waves. It tracks and paddles well, no need for a rudder. A little heavier than expected for a paddle boat, but it is very sturdy feeling when paddling and standing. It is a very capable boat, which is now my backup kayak and duck hunting boat. Let you know if you have an more questions!
