Hey guys. so I caught this guy at berry and called him a spot, but looking twice at the picture i wondered If it was. it looks a little off compared to other spots I've caught. But it doesn't look exactly like a smallie to me either. Ricci(FW) said he has seen some bass out of Berry that look like their interbred :smt102;
What do you think?
Thanks for clicking :smt006

I hear ya man, probably a hybrid. I caught one of those a while back. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=35438.0 (http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=35438.0)
I caught this guy over a gravel bed, which says smallie to me, but definitely has spot features. Hybrid for sure.
Seems like Berryessa is the Kentucky of NorCal lakes :smt044 :cyclops: :rabbit:

The horizontal stripe seems too defined. SMB have no horizontal stripe. This fish does. SPots show distinct small spotted stripes on the belly and SMB do not. SMB have vertical bars if they have any at all. SMB in general are more bronze and less green than this one too. Use this for reference too.

Do a search on bass Id and you will see how different the two actually look.
but Rob had a good point on previous topic.

I caught one of those too the day before the BSS2. I tried to get some help and it was 50/50. Some said it was a spot and some smallie. In some lake you can tell right away but not from Berry it seems.

Can you put the pic of your fish from SSII here, Jed?
Here is a pic of my double hook up from SSII.

From the pic thats shown I would lean towards a spot. The underside of the belly is really white. The lateral lines look like a spot.

I agree.

Yeah I think it is a spot somewhat of a hybrid. It can't be a LMB because of the mouth not passing behind the eyes.

yeah, it looks like a spot... they just lose the coloration & look like olive color when they're freaked out... but still no vertical bar on the bottom side so looks like a spot.
