Last time in SC I noticed that the hand launch floating dock near Aldo's was smaller than before, missing some of the floating sections that used to be there.  I was curious if anyone has looked at the farther dock, I think near F Dock closer to the Cost Guard and wondering if it's still the full size dock.  Thinking of launching my AI this weekend in SC, but need to be able to setup and launch/land and disassemble.

It's shrinkflation!

Actually, I'm not sure whether the A dock is getting smaller, but it was never an easy launch a full AI from there. The F dock would be better, or you could go to the other side, and launch from the boat ramp. If you use the dock on the right-hand (north) side of the ramp, and go to the end, you probably won't annoy any powerboaters.

On the F dock, you have to lift your yak over a small ledge then slide it down the water (i.e. scratch heartbreak) vs A's floating platform push to water.   Also, the F dock is sloping down vs A's flat (at least the floating dock part).
Plus, the AI is heavy ......

Thanks guys!  Launching at the ramp seems like a better option, but still one I would rather avoid.  I might take a drive down there this week and weigh options.  Maybe launch from Twin Lakes beach?

I’ve never actually launched my AI from the F dock (have done the A dock many times), so 3Y is probably right about that. I’d advise against the beach. It’s rarely flat, surf-wise, and even if it was, it would be way more work.

Best thing to do is to check it out in person  :smt007   I am with NWM though, for AI,  it is a lot easier to trailer and launch from boat ramp.

Yeah, I just haven't spent the time to setup the trailer but I do have one.  Maybe I should try and get it setup and then use it Sunday.  Could also just launch at Cap, but it's a bit of effort as well.

I've launched my PA from all of them (no trailer).  "A" Dock better than "F" dock, the ramp is the best.

A dock has a FREE rinse station which is nice
parking easier for A and F
load unload easiest at the ramp

There are a bunch of wash stations on the ramp side, but it's $2.25 (in quarters) for 5 minutes, and it's BYOH (bring your own hose)...
