my notes seem to indicate that the stripers do not exist  :smt011  I've been driving up and down the coast (from HMB to Pacifica) after work and spying on the guys fishing from the shore (with my binocs). I have not seen one striper caught off the beaches. I did a few "interviews" and every fishermen I spoke to had mentioned of a "hot bite"........ ...yesterday  :smt013  I went to the beach on Kelly st. yesterday on a tip from a co-worker of mine. Met a couple of guys just waiting for the action to pick-up. I stuck around for an hour and several other fishermen showed up shaking their heads - the wind was blowing really hard and no even tried casting out.

I'll head out to Martins beach in HMB today after work. My neighbor is a surfer and he had mentioned about a dozen guys fishing the area. Still looking for my first striper off the beach  :smt002 From what I heard - it's a big rush!  :smt026

however timing is everything, i used to surf fish alot, but since  i got a kayak in 1998, i have fished the surf less and less.  you are in a good position though, living in hmb. do not be hesitant to go out and fish, the fish are there, seeing them "busting on bait" is actually a rare occurance.  i have seen you fish, and i am confident you will catch some if you get your line wet!

Thanks Chris - I definitely agree with you on the timing issue  :smt023 I guess I'm just getting a little too excited because of all the reports I keep hearing from the community of Stiper fishermen here on the coast. I have met many of the guys who fish from the shore and they are always happy to share info. on the striper activity. Most of them agree that it's still early and the fish are still scattered and the schools have been moving fast.

I will keep scouting the area and post my reports as much as I can  :smt002
