General Talk / Swim crazy - Santa Cruz to Monterey

Ppl say im nuts to swim SF Bay. N its true, is a lil crazy. Last month I swam from TI to Pier 37 unaccompanied predawn n it was scary!

But this guy takes open water distance swimming to rarefied levels.

25 miles across MBay!!

Guess that's equivalent to the catalina channel wow

Im interested to learn more about fishing from a PWC. Seems like Seadoo hav the Angler series w entry model fully kitted out for anything that i might try in a yak.

Downsides is its a regulated vessel that needs a tow, cant portage, need boat launch.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Fuze - replacement sunglass lenses

I had a pair of Costa Del Mar Rincon model polarized glasses that i liked, where the lenses had gotten all scratched up.

Looked into replacement lenses and found Fuze will cut replacement lenses for many mfr n models, including my Costa Rincons.

"Only" 45bux versus $180 for a new set, seemed to make sense.

Its ttly worth it from my POV. The Fuze lenses are not an exact fit, slight wiggle unlike OEM. Also The tint seems a little liter than original but i did go w a red flame polarized instead of grey polarized as original. Fig theyre close enough and they look pretty good. So essentially got a sunglasses refresh at less than 1/3 price of new.

General Talk / Big Island Trip / August - any pointers

I'll be spending a week at a house near the Fairmont Orchid next month. Will bring some reef whipping gear and jumbo floats to hit the local beach.

Wondering if anyone's familiar with that area of the Big Island and recommend some can't miss things?

General Fishing Tips / Costanoa - foraging trip

I'm staying at Costanoa next weekend. looks like its situated at the northern tip of Ano sanctuary.
Has anyone ever:

1. Stayed at Costanoa? What are the cabins like? Should bring own linens, heated blanket? Looks cold!
2. Any pokepoling or foraged between there and Pigeon Pt?

Hi, hoping someone can spare some time on Friday after lunch to accompany me during a bay training swim.
Launch out of Aquatic park, or jump the seawall at TI and swim to Pier 14. 1.5 miles-ish either one.
I'll bring yak or a SUP (your choice) - you just show up and paddle.
