Went on my first halibut hunt of 2011 with gelbyak. Water was very glassy with almost no wind when we left the harbor. It looked to be a very promising for fishing. The swells and wind did pick up after 11am, but it was still manageable.

We trolled the sandy area south of the lighthouse in about 60 feet of water until around 1pm, with nothing to show for but bait stealing white croaker. I used frozen squid, and gelbyak used frozen herring, with the same results.

That sounds perfect. Is there a place nearby to purchase live or frozen bait?
