I've been experimenting and trying to tie a bass fly that works 60% of the time all of the time. Anyone out there have a recipe they would like to share?
I have had some success with this one . . .

I troll a pond smelt pattern fly, and get lots of bass incidental catch.

I've had good luck on the delta with a 3 1/2 inch clouser in gray/purple/white.

I have been fishing clouser minnows a lot lately and doing well. Top sizes are 2 and 10. Tie some in white and some dark and you're good to go. Also, since the hook point rides upright they are pretty weedless even without a weed guard.

You can't beat Clousers, tied in several colors.

I have caught more bass on my little size 8 black wiggle tail then I have on clousers. And I have been throwing clousers for years, it was actually the first fly I ever tied.
