Two battery boxes. Gray one is running a 20ah LifePo4. The other one is running 2x 10ah Lipo in parallel. It would fit 3 Lipos if I want to.
How long does 20ah at 16.8V last you and whats your normal running speed? Is the motor okay with those 4s batts (16.8v full and 14.8v nominal) rather than 3s which is 12.6v full and 11.1v nominal?
I might try this for salmon season...

My pwm/motor setup would last about 6 hrs if I run it at 3a draw. At 3a, it pushes my Revo 13 between 2-2.5 mph. That's good enough for lake trolling. When I run it on my AI for salmon trolling, I push it to about 4a draw because I want to troll a bit faster, plus ocean current would slow the troll a bit. So when trolling in the ocean, I get a little over 4hrs from my 20ah battery. That's why I bring multiple batteries if I'm gonna fish all day.

However, I would use the 4-stroke motor on my AI as much as possible because there's just no comparison between gas and electric in terms of speed and range.

Absolutely fine with 4s, especially when you're using a PWM. In fact, 4s is better than 3s because 11.1v can hardly move this motor. You can try my motor on your Revo if you'd like.

That would be great! We should link up for halibut!

Got it up and running and decided to stay with using installing the watersnake in the original mirage drive location as I think I’ll need to steer using the motor. Opting for mounting pwm in a bigger container since I’d like an ammeter.

Takeaways:
Love the pwm
Need some means to steer while I stand and troll and FF. Reaching down to make steering adjustments and speed adjustments is a pain as they are often done

On my setup I use a pwm system I got online. It has a safety cutoff switch in case you fall off the kayak. I have it wired up so I can bypass it and use the original motor switches if needed.

I could use a safety cutoff switch too cause I almost fell off going from forward to reverse  :smt005

I have been using Bixpy Jet for almost a year and very happy with its performance.
It comes with a wireless remote with 12 speeds control.

I love that design for the wrist control..  That plus they have a rear mounted or rudder mounted set up  so you can still use the mirage drive in combination.

The design I’m using also has a gentle start. Going from forward to reverse won’t slam you. Unfortunately the maker seems to have gone out of business. I may take a look under the hood so I can recreate another wired remote version. I’ve decideed I don’t like his wireless remote setup.

Does the control box on the extension pole not hinder your cast? I don't know how people manage their fly line. Do you keep the line inside or outside of your kayak? I would at least tie the wires around the extension pole to avoid tangle. With that control box in front of you, can you use a stripping basket if you want to?

The control box is not the biggest thing the fly line can snag on, usually it's other items. If the electronics could be remotely located, all the better. I'd consider using a stripping basket if the wind were to pick up.

Let me share my setup. I can use it all day long for fishing trip.
Especially I like the location of my motor Controller.
I can control both of direction & speed by one hand.

Diggin on that remote motor speed controller :). Looks like the PWM is still on the Watersnake's shaft?

I put PWM in the Waterproof Plastic Enclosure Box and leave it in milk crate in cargo area.
Refer to below video.

I use this PWM for my Water Snake... https://www.ebay.com/itm/MAX-10-50V-2000W-40A-12V-24V-48V-DC-Motor-Speed-Control-PWM-HHO-RC-Controller/201399689235
If you tweak it a bit, you can embed the board inside the the motor housing and not have overheat issue.
If you go 2-2.5 mph, the pwm and motor draw around 3.0a. I use a 20ah LifePo4 (7 lbs) battery and I could troll for ~6 hrs straight without pedaling.

I do not like the mod where you mount the motor where the Mirage drive goes, because it is useful to be able to use the mirage together with the motor. I built a PVC mount where I simply plug the motor into the built in rod holder. Take 2 seconds to install or remove. You get to retain the Mirage drive. It's a win-win-win.

Do you have another link Ebay link is dead.  What is PWM?
