Well I was thinking of getting a new paddle but have needed new cradles for longer. Just ordered a set based on all you all's recommendation. I'm looking forward to being secure and scuff free.
I usually add a bow and stern tie down as well, any of you guys using this rack do this as an extra precaution or is it overkill? 4

I know most of us are at Shelter Cove or Bullards Bar living the good life but conditions are looking pretty sweet tomorrow South of the City.
I'll be heading down that way in the earlyish morning for crabbing and fishing anyone else left in town heading out? Probably launch ether Rockaway or the old pier. 6

Get an older Ocean Kayak Prowler 13.
They can carry a lot but are light and sturdy so if you drop it it's not a big deal. You see them on Craig's list occasionally for a good price. I keep mine for rocky shore launches and lake fishing. 7

Wow!
Yep Navionics files did it, sweet now along with the descenders I made up with today I can be sure I'm in compliance. See you guys on the Ocean. 8

Thanks for putting this together Paul and thanks Al for making the GPX files.
I was able to get both files onto the disk and then load both of them onto my Hook 4 as trails, I was also able to get the 50 Fathoms line to display! Unfortunately I was unable to get the 20 Fathoms to display despite double checking all the settings and going through transferring that file a second time. Locally I'm not worried about being near the line but Fort Ross and North it gets deep real quick in some spots and cell reception is spotty so can't just rely on the GPS on the phone. 10
General Fishing Tips / Re: 20 Fathom Line Install« on: May 02, 2024, 12:51:17 PM »Hi Scotty, Hey Mark, I'll be wanting to add this to Elite 4 so looking forward to what you come up with. I have pretty much no idea how to do this. Do you stick the chip in your phone transfer the information to it then put the chip back in your fish finder or what? 11

I got a rockfish and got to meet some of the original kayak fishing OGs!
Thanks Glen for putting this on and hooking me up with the hand line! It felt very intuitive to fish with even though I only had the one bite. 12

Shucks we'll see you there!
So I have I a question, I know this is a casual event but Glen is it acceptable to catch bait from the kayak with a conventional rod and reel and then transfer it to the hand line or do we need to fish exclusively with a hand line in order to be eligible to win all the glory? 13

I have a Tarpon 160 you can borrow/test drive here in the East Bay if you don't want to transport your kayak so far. 14
Introductions / Re: New here since 2012!« on: April 03, 2024, 05:04:14 PM »Hey Rodney, Sick! Looks like a section of the Rubicon I've only seen in videos. My 40 is not going to be that hard core but it's going to be much more capable than stock and I did some fun stuff with it when it was stock. I'll hit you up once I get it road/off-road worthy. And I will say it's not a waste of time to try for halibut in the harbor as well if you can't get out the jaws at HMB .. 15

Hey Rodney,
Show us you Willies! My buddie has a place near Tamarack so I know you've got some great trails and lakes up there. I'm nearing the end of my 69 FJ40 build and hope to get up to your area for some wheeling eventually. Congrats on the kayak and see you OTW! |
