For Sale / WTB- 10ft Pedal Drive
« on: August 06, 2020, 05:17:13 AM »
If anyone has any leads on a passport 10.5, slayer 10 or the like, in the Sacramento area, let me know.

Jumping into the 12ft market is difficult for me with a bad back and limited storage space...and mainly small water fishing.

Thanks!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Sac river salmon
« on: August 13, 2018, 06:26:13 PM »
Did you get much interest?

I'm definitely interested in results...

I've drifted/jigged the sac a few times for nothing but smallmouth, but want to give it a go again this season.

Nice catch!

Not surprised by their presents, but like you, I wouldn't really go to the DWC to target steelhead, lol.

Beautiful!

How do u fish your crickets?

Risk vs reward= crime....jail time isn't much of a deterrent.

 Steal = lose some fingers
Steal again = whole hand
Steal again= labeled as "open season status" and released onto the streets with a bullseye tattoo on your forehead as a warning to law abiding citizens, as well as a free pass from the government to "take out the trash" so to speak, lol.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Pay Attention To Your Surroundings
« on: November 10, 2017, 11:02:10 AM »
I'm the opposite.

I have a game plan, rigs ready and setup.....once I launch, I lose all focus and feel like I don't know how to fish.

Kayak fishing is new to me...kayaking in general is new to me, so I can't help but get caught up in it.

No wonder I haven't caught anything picture worthy from a kayak, lol!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Kayak hoist recommendations for garage?
« on: October 10, 2017, 06:50:11 AM »
I'm turning the garage into a workshop and 2 kayaks will hang from the ceiling

Wondering what people are using, the harken looks good but hard to say from looking online

There will be no place for a car so will have to carry yaks in
I'm cheap, so I used a harbor freight bike hoist $8?

Changed out the rope because the stuff it came with seemed cheap or soft?

Made my own straps/harness to distribute the load....even experimented with using a sling made out of a moving blanket, but I needed the kayak as snug as possible because of the garage door.

No real complaints. It still works. The kayak needs a little guidance when lowering or one end will want to come down before the other.

Mounted to a 2x4 for horizontal action.

Test fitting.

Harness made and operational.

Experimental moving blanket sling.

Dang it! I can't make it this Saturday. Anybody plan on fishing Sunday? Do you guys know a good place to launch at Freeport?

If by bryan you mean me i shall be there bright and early

Also, no non buoyant lures over 1 ounce are allowed to have trebles.  so anything like a spinner or a jig that is more than 1 oz in weight has to have a single hook.
Is that where we're fishing or in the barbless section?

You and Brian going to make it out?

Safety First / Re: Help choosing a pfd

I have a chinook...

I ordered it online during the week, so I could take the yak out that same weekend. So, I have limited experience with other brands and models.

I'm 5' 8" 130lbs with broad shoulders....obviously, no belly bulge, lol.

I strap it up tight and can fish all day comfortably.

Limited experience, but my 2 cents.

What's your body type?

Pay It Forward / Re: Prayers for Sweetie
« on: November 15, 2016, 06:31:26 AM »
Sweetie is home and on the mend...a complete hand full!

USAA said pets aren't covered through our homeowners insurance, since they offer separate pet insurance, so it looks like I will have to take another route.
