New guy from santa rosa here. I just started my kayak fishing journey in October. Ive been fishing Petaluma river, Napa river and SfBay most recently but Pyramid lake Nevada is probably my favorite spot. Headed out to go camping tomorrow to Ocean cove, this will be my first time offshore. Hoping other kayakers are out there friday so i might tag along otherwise i’ll wait for my buddies to fish on saturday. I’m 45 years old now and wish i started this sooner, been having tons of fun. i have an awesome wife who lets me get out once or twice a week. Hopefully i’ll be running into some of you soon. Cheers

If we have a FF without an option to incorporate the 20 and/or 50 fathom file, will it be a safe assumption to catch RF within the depth <120 feet?

That's my take and I never fish past 100ft anyway. Really rare I go over 100ft. I just want to catch a fish not be a Navionics engineer.
Go fishing have fun stay inside 100ft and enjoy your day fishing. You must have a descending device that you need for sure.

In most places it’s not an issue, but I would recommend glancing at the map before you go, since there are a few spots where the line is in less than 70 feet. See screenshot from near Timber Cove.

What fisherman would not be thrilled to own a lure vibrator?

She has both of those things! if it isn't too much trouble, she would love the opportunity to try one. I have a tandem that we both use also, but certainly nicer in your own yak!

My mom is coming up with me! She recently moved to the area and is very interested in getting a fishing kayak of her own. I told her you guys are a great group to ask all the questions she has!

does she have  a license and pole? I could bring an extra Yak if you want

honestly, Tandem may be better - then she can just focus on the fishing while you focus on the rest!
