Other Kayaks / Re: Viking dealers

I tried emailing Quiver Sports in Reno. Didn’t get a response. I’ll try calling this week. I’m probably going to Corpus Cristie in December and know Roy’s keeps them in stock. I just don’t want to haul one all the way home. Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know any Viking dealers in CA? Need some accessories and thinking about purchasing another for family.

General Talk / Re: Drowning while Kayaking in Lake Superior

That’s sad. My 12 year old daughter has been wanting to go fishing in the ocean. I’m going to start her in the kelp forest and have been gathering better gear for her. I worry about her panicking if something happens. Want to make sure she’s 100% ready.

Beautiful Vermilion and ugly butt. Great job on both fish. Jealous I couldn’t get out there this weekend.

That’s a great story. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Haul. I was in the Cosumnes Reserve. Caught nothing but dinks.

Paradise point is a great place to start. I caught my PB largemouth (not from a kayak) on the north rockwall during the incoming tide. Water was still low. Low tide I fish the rockwall with weightless senko (usually watermelon red flake). Mid tide, warm weather, I’ll use topwaters. High tide I’ll pitch right up against the tules. I’ve caught more along the levee than the island.

Recipes / Re: Pemmican

I’ve never made pemmican before, but I love heating up the femur and pouring the marrow out on my steaks or backstraps. It adds tons of flavor, so I imagine pemmican would be good.

Let me know. If I haven’t already pulled the trigger on a new one by then I might be interested in yours.

Would love to buy another one. Such a great kayak and my kids always want to use mine. I've been looking for a dealer in California, but haven't had any luck. Roy's Bait and Tackle in Corpus Christi Texas has them. They do not ship. Unless I find a dealer closer, I may be bringing one back from Texas on my next trip there.

General Talk / Re: Trolling for salmon with a paddle..
« on: September 03, 2017, 07:47:37 AM »
I use dd6's, drop weights, and banana weights depending on where I'm fishing. I second the 1-3 knots. Try different things.

You are asking one of the 3 most secrets/recipe(my secret anyway).
It took me solid 2 years to figure it out.
I don't catch all the salmon but I have caught my fair share of them.

I also agree that there's not one secret recipe. Trial and error are keys to success. Try trolling different spoons with flashers while paddling out to your spot, when you get there switch it up to something slower and troll into the wind. When you make it far enough switch it up to head back. Either let the wind push you or go with something that trolls faster.

Other Kayaks / Liquid Logic Manta Ray 12
« on: September 02, 2017, 08:16:29 PM »
I just bought a Liquid Logic Manta Ray 12 as a 2nd yak. Was thinking about kids, wife, or buddy who wants to try it out. Got a great price on it.

Looking for some input on its design. It looks like it can handle short trips offshore. Anyone here have any experience with this Yak? I fish both inshore and offshore.
