A recent Youtube video I saw mentioned that doing this also allows the crabs to purge whatever they had been eating and you get cleaner crab butter as a bonus with the fresh crab.  I personally can't wait until I cook it most times, finding the wind down waiting for them to be ready one of the best parts  :smt003.

Looks to me that you can make a V2 into a V1 with a bandsaw? I can only guess, but it looks like a redesign of the top, but probably not the rest of the dimensions

Looks like you could pull a fish outta there. :smt003  Thanks for the trip pics Joe!

I can say for sure there are huge steelhead running up the SLR in January and February after the first few good rains and the water clears up I start seeing them.  Too bad the spots I know are not open for fishing.  I always get the report card, but rarely put in the time to try and fish for them.

I look to put the least effort into crabbing I can, so I go heavy on bait and scent.  I always love to use fish carcases but didn't keep hardly any rockfish this year.  Going to try chicken this year, but still add fresh squid each drop.  I also like to use procure with the squid in scent jars.

Welcome to the neighborhood Gopher!  I've only fished the SLR a handful of times while living up here.  I've been able to observe 24+ inch steelhead coming up into my own back yard to spawn though when I lived of Hwy 9, but it was a no fishing section I lived on anyway.  I believe you have the regs correct, you also get to fish on opening and closing days as well as holidays if I remember correctly.  Just have to look up the specific water your targeting and find the boundry locations.  There is this map to help look up regulations: https://apps.wildlife.ca.gov/sportfishingregs/
