Fish Finder and Transducer Install - Fisha 555

After scouring this forum and youtube, and asking some of you endless questions, I have finally completed the fish finder install on my Fisha 555.

In brief:
The transducer is in the outer hull in the rectangular cutaway that looks intended for it. Secured to hull with 8 ounces of duct putty. Cable exits the outer hull through a wine bottle cork that I drilled out and jammed through the stock hole. Noqua battery hangs on the stock bungees just in front of the livewell. All the cables are kept neat with zipties and stick-on ziptie anchors. Cables exit the boat through a hole cut in the hatch cover and fitted with a Wilderness Systems thru-hull wiring kit. A few notes:
- I will seal the cover to the outer hull after doing my shakedown cruise this evening.
- My boat came from first owner with a adhesive railblaza mount on hatch cover. I removed the inner railblaza part and screwed on a ram ball mount. For now I will use this to secure the FF display. It was already there so might as well try it. With only the slightest bit of hole enlargement of the soft metal, the ram ball fit perfectly into existing holes of the suction railblaza mount.
-After finishing the install, I realized there is a conflict between the fore hatch strap and the new thru-hull wiring plug. oops! Eddie says I only need the aft strap, so I'll delete the fore one.


1. Shave wine cork to snugly fit black plastic housing. Drill hole down center. Slice longways with hacksaw.
2. Roll out duct putty to desired thickness, then trim away excess.
3. Press transducer into outer hull. Try to be level in all planes.
4. Remove hatch cover to trill with spade bit (there are better bits for this. I don't own them). Use lumber as a backing board for drilling. Drill 1/8" pilot hole. Embed tip of spade but into pilot hole and drill with very light pressure and lots of patience.
5. Add thin layer of epoxy to "chalky" exposed edges of new hole.
6. Attach thru-hull plug kit and ziptie anchors. Pull cords to desired length and make it all clean and pretty inside with zip ties.

It's a bit hard to photograph, but you can sorta see it here, with the gray putty coming up around the edges.
