5/16" is a common size. It's even used in trailer lock hitch.
Yakima longarm uses this size too.

If you can't find a replacement, you can just bend a piece of rod and weld on (or have someone else weld it) a little nub like the original.

I think old mirage masts fit, as do those sinker releases for salmon trolling.
My pin broke and fell off a few years ago and I have yet to find a replacement.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

i think the pin is a thinner diameter than 1/4” so i’ll have to check with my calipers to measure the hole.

Thanks for all the input

Original is thicker than 1/4".  I was just in the garage and checked with calipers, its exactly 10mm, which is about 0.4"

If you can't find an easy replacement, then use a bolt that slides through both holes with 1/2" sticking out the other side.  Drill a small hole 1/4" from the end and use a snatch style cotter pin to hold the bolt in place.  You could also use an aircraft nut or wing nut to fasten everything in place.   Just use a bolt long enough to accept the nut and a cotter pin.   I wouldn't worry about not having a security wire attached.
