Post by: Rikshaw on June 15, 2005, 04:44:14 PM
I am pleased to announce that the Cobra Kayaks message boards and photo galleries are finally up and running.

Please visit http://www.cobrakayaks.com and join the Cobra Community. In here we will discuss team events, trips, and everything else Cobra, as well as providing DIRECT links to the BEST message boards for kayak fishing and general kayaking information nationwide.

From the Cobra board you can find out what's going off in San Diego, see what's happening in Texas, learn how to Tarpon fish in Florida, and get the newest and latest info direct from NCKA.

We look forward to working closely with boards like NorCalKayakAnglers to provide all the best service and information to every paddle sport enthusiast, so check it out when you have a chance and see all the great photos from the Santa Cruz Island Trip we all just got back from. This trip was so incredible that we are already planning another one for a bit later this summer.

See you all over there, as well as in here.

Great site you have here, and it seems to get better all the time. Can't wait to meet you in person up at HMB.

Just curious ... how many people here fish Cobra's other than me?

Allen,

My girlfriend and I both fish out of Cobra Tourers.

The Tourer is the kayak I use when I fish alone. If I am taking the kid out (Matt just turned 7) Then I use a Fish'n Dive so he can sit in the jump seat and I can reach him and help him fish.

I Dig the tourer because it is fast fast fast, and for me at least, easy to manuever.

I've paddled a buddy's FND a few times.
That thing was AWESOME.  Very, very dry, plenty of deck space and huge hatches.

Rik,

Nice job on the forums.  Very smart to use the existing boards vs. "re-inventing the wheel".  How did the Catalina camping trip go?

No Catalina Trip Kevin, we went to Santa Cruz. Man what a trip. I can honestly say it was probably THE BEST trip I have taken in the last 10 years. The facilities were terrific, the transportation was hassle free, the scenery was breath taking... We had smooth paddling, decent fishing, butt pucker inducing thrills (6' swells at 6 sec intervals with 15 - 20 mph winds and reflex waves from the cliff faces. Rikshaw Pucker Factor - 7.8)... We had it all.

This trip truely belongs in the "Epic" catagory.

Right now we are running a poll to see which island we hit next over at the Cobra Forum.

Chime in and join us on the next one.

I started out with a Cobra Explorer (great for lake fishing) and went on to the Tourer and the Fish & Dive. IMO: the Tourer and the FND are great kayaks. My only problem with the tourer was the leaky hatch.

I also like the fact that the Tourer is very light in weight compared to all the other 15-foot kayaks  :smt023

I now paddle the P15 - my only complaint is the flooded footwells  :smt011 Other than that - a great all-purpose kayak  :smt023
