Welcome to the community, Gus.  Once you have 10 posts you can see the Members Only Reports page - there's a lot of Delta info there, and the Search feature in the upper right corner will provide years of resources.

Enjoy~   :smt001

Way to get on it.   :smt001

I'm curious about the GW's and if they asked about a descender.

Me too.

Since, apparently, the law enforcement division of CDFW is so interested in tracking depths - like the 20 fathoms and less rockfish season that just ended and the 50 fathoms and more season that just started - you'd think they would enact a common sense rule that fishing in bays or in less than, say, 10 fathoms would be exempt from being checked for a descender.  Not that you wouldn't need to have one, but that you should expect to not be checked for one if you're obviously fishing shallow or even in a place where I'll stick my neck out and say that it's impossible to be in a position of needing a descender - like inside Humboldt Bay.

You've come to the right place, Neil.  Once you have 10 posts you'll be able to see the Members Only Fishing Reports - lots of hookups to join on that board.  You'll also be able to see the classified ads.

What kind of kayak do you have?  Are you setup with sonar?  What's your immersion gear setup?

Enjoy.   :smt001

Up here the ocean kicked up a few notches for the first time in several weeks.  So it's looking like a shut-out.

That said, there's a chance that Monday the 30th will be fishable...   :smt004

Im going to paddle the Pajaro river soon but can't find anything about fishing there. Salinas River has all the striper regulations just trying to make sure its not the same issue in the pajaro. Any suggestions?

I think PK / SinCoast has a history and good info there.

This is getting high tech for sure.   :smt005

So the guy maybe droned his (oversized) bait out, sighted the sharks, dropped it in their path, hooked a GWS on purpose, used conspicuously heavy and specific gear, and...  Is this like a Winter Thread?!

Whatevers.  I admit I didn't go full Clouseau in my first analysis, but what comes of it other than a debate here?

Carry on.   :smt006

What's the odd to catch a Great White from shore?

Exactly.  Seems speculative to claim that these guys were targeting GWS.  Threshers are certainly sought after and coveted for their meat and their fight, and that gear is specifically known to aid in retaining one that's hooked.  Thinking that you're going to hook and land a GWS on any shore-based gear isn't common or even a thing, for the most part.

I was impressed with how they handled the shark, and, yeah, that guy was close to the chompers!  20,000 pounds per square inch is no joke.

May 11, 2025 Mothers Day
The weekend after have Negative tide like this year’s. Had fun picking urchins. 😁

In the past I realized I should avoid Mother's Day Weekend for the event - then, this year, I forgot!  I'm making it a solid rule now.   :smt001

I got an email today from Shelter Cove RV Campground and Deli notifying me that 2025 reservations are now open.
Is there going to be a gathering for 2025 and if so, has a date been set yet?
Cheers!

Aiming for the 3rd Saturday in May, but I won't make a final decision until December.

Well done. That was a macker swell for inside there. Was it rideable for the locals at Deadman’s or too blown out?

The swell was almost non-existent, so inside by the moorings and down toward No-Pass was flat and just wind to deal with.  The rough stuff was at the end out at the point in 30 to 40 feet - all wind generated.  The one big wind wave photo surprised me because I didn't remember thinking anything of it at the time - it's an illusion that I've edited for the drama!   :smt005

The halibut were real though!   :smt004
