Not totally sure I understand what your trying to do but if your intending to string the shock cord through the hollow braid and want a way to secure it at the ends.......I think you could run your shock cord though hollow braid tie knots in the ends then pull the knot back to where your fed splice is going to branch, do your splice and then wrap a bunch of tight loops of heavy thread around the both lines at that point. The knot would keep the cord from springing back from the ends of the hollow braid.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Saturday 9/4 sea lion on board in Half Moon Bay« on: March 13, 2025, 12:41:23 PM »
Yeah the one a Doran was reportedly dead.....reminds me of a time I was shore fishing at Bonita Point, after a bit I noticed a horrible smell and upon investigation found a partly decomposed 8' Salmon or GW shark up on the shore line.
Later I mentioned the find to one of my non standard type friends whom promptly set out to harvest the jaws or teeth with a hatchet....guess he wasn't able to locate the shark which was probably for the best considering hacking it up would likely be legal and/or other violation of some kind. 4

But that’s probably not going to happen. I think this a different situation, the coyote decapitation was of baby seals at Van Damme this decapitation was a sea lion at Doran. 5

Happy to say I haven't had a surf landing that required the landing rope but I have had a decent amount of surf landings. In harder landings I'm a big fan of nothing on deck.
When I have had sketckty surf landings I have been able to get through by getting as close in as I felt comfortable with the break and then sliding in and to the stern handle letting the kayak tow me in. I think the rope is for the most extreme landings. 6

General Fishing Tips / Re: New Melones Kokanee Tips?« on: March 07, 2025, 12:15:17 PM »Anyone have experience on what part of the lake to shore fish and what gear to use? Is there room to fly cast? You guys all missed the part about "to shore fish" unless your thinking he should cast a dodger set up on a fly rod from shore? ![]() That's Fishingrod's area he lives up that way, perhaps he will chime in with some tips? I'm interested in knowing the basic shore spots there as well. 8
Fish Talk / Re: Halibut vs Sole vs Sanddab vs Flounder« on: February 13, 2025, 12:18:36 PM »
There you go look at that nice broom tail!
I used to catch these fairly often kayak fishing shallow while crabbing in the winter. Here's a little one I caught from shore in Point Reyes. 9

Yeah that 24" fish looks like a halibut to me as well, the end of tail has a curved edge and is not like a sole tail which is more "broom like". When small halibut can have this broom like tail as well so they are harder to distinguish.
Another distinguishing feature of sole are the "free rays" on their head like a little mohawk, no halibut has that. 10

This is hard to watch but....
https://youtu.be/W02h2ALuoxk?si=ys0lTK-61rFiSaM7 I know we don't live in New Zealand but we do have Great Whites. Does it seem like this guy was trying to lure or bait the shark with his reactions? Edit: Shoot can't make the video show just the link.... Edit:Thanks Jason! 12
