Places to Launch and Camp / Re: Launch options for Salinas River
« on: December 13, 2018, 12:26:00 PM »
Also don't forget about the closed area .  Look at the map .  You can still go through it just not while trolling or casting.  And no you can't say your targeting another spieces.  You need your steelhead punch card, one rod only while trolling , and barbless hooks. The bridge is a good half way point.  Go up and around to the dam or down and about to the inlet/ bay.....

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Scotty mounts for downriggers
« on: November 29, 2018, 08:14:41 AM »
I just installed one on my Outback.  I used a 1/2" thick piece of lexan for my base.  I also installed it so it hangs off and just misses the side of the yak.  Less torque on the mount and I can see what's going on real easy.  Used it at spicer last week and all went well.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Is this Kripple Anchovie spinning too fast?

It looks to me that your swivel is mess up.  It should be spinning with the KA not spin-stop-spin-stop.   Simple fix indeed....

No spectra, floro-leader, 30 lb yo- zuri = salmon...

Great price at 13 bucks for 600 yard spool.

General Talk / Re: Picking a spot to retire
« on: July 23, 2018, 05:48:23 PM »
After 35 years of going over 17 to Palo Alto I had enough.  Just retired, sold the house in Scotts Valley ( in 3 days) and live on the Greenhorn Creek golf course.  10 minutes from New Melones, within an hour of so of many other lakes and rivers and NO Traffic.  Plus my golf game is coming together : )

2 1/2 hour run back to SV to see the kids closed the deal with my wife.

I was looking at Brookings Oregon, made a ton of runs up there but it just didn't feel right.  I've been going to Oregon for 30 years where my folks live.  Now they say Grants Pass is to crowded and are looking at Idaho..

I Got real tired of arranging my schedule around the massive and increasing everyday traffic.

Life is good again .

Wow.  Great truck and deal.  I have a 2011 with 215,000 miles on it and all I've ever done is oil changes and new tires.

Wish I needed another....

General Talk / Re: Out the Mouth
« on: April 16, 2018, 10:12:28 AM »
If its not sanded in like it has been most this year it would be fun to try. Most likely you will have to portage in-between the river and the ocean. Now that I think about it isn't the sand plant miles and miles from the mouth of the Salinas river ?

Getting ready for a move so starting the process. I own a glass business so I have 2 glass table tops.

(1) 36 x 84 1/2" low iron satin etch with polished edges.  Has 1 small chip on the side that I can sand out but it is visible.
Retail is a little over a grand. It would make a great workbench top or a conference room top.  $200.00

(1) 42 x 72 1/2" clear glass with a 1" bevel. Was a dinning room top.  Its also around $800.00. I'd let it go for $100.00

Garage items:

I found a new Spyderco Triangle sharpmaker.  Forgot I had it...  $45.00

For you exercise enthusiast.

Don't ask me why I have it but I have a brand new Blackburn Tech Mag Race .  It makes your regular bike a stationary bike to work out with. Pretty cool thing just not what I need.  $70.00 and it's yours.

5' Fish cleaning station. Repaired leg.  $100.00

Heater with no glass tube and dent in top.  Free with the purchase of any other item.

I have 6 or so bell bike locks. Brand new.  Each item above comes with 1 or 2 if you need 2.

If your not to far away I can deliver the tops for a add on of a cold beer.

Thanks for looking and more items to come once I dig through everything...
