I shot the gopro video that was posted to LCKA on facebook and sent it to Jess  (i do not have facebook).  If someone wants to post the vid here, i can email it (im not sure how).    CF 1666 VF from i could read.  60hp Zuk  hangin off the back.   We heard some noise over the radio about a pb being a jackass, couple minutes later he came at us out of the fog and proceeded to circle in between the three of us and  harass us before tearing off through the fog to harass the next group of kayakers.  Later, we saw him come back in to calmer waters and shoot off a flare of some sort. While I agree that he probably wasn't going to do anything much more than try to intimidate, there was a line that was crossed.  It doesnt take much for a situation like that to turn south quickly.  There is no place for any of that on the water.

I have always boiled my crab whole.  For those that clean prior to cooking, do you just boil the crab after you clean, or are you limited to steaming?

General Talk / Re: Lots of questions on Kayak fishing

As said before, kayaks allow you to launch in many places that boats can't, and are much less of a commitment to use. It takes so much less time to get a kayak ready than it does to get a boat. You said that you can buy a boat for the price of a really nice kayak, but that doesn't take into account maintenance, storage, gas, and the need for a truck and trailer. Boats almost always end up as money pits. When you buy a cheap boat it also comes with a lot of limitations especially if you plan on using it in the ocean. Buying a seaworthy boat is never cheap.

As the saying goes:

The two happiest days of a boaters life is the day they buy a boat, and the day they sell it.
Not a kayak, though.   :smt006

I personally know someone that took a spear to the head. He then had to climb his way out of the cove up a cliff with a spear sticking out of his head.  It wasnt pretty, but he made it.

Welcome, Patrick. Not many people have grown up on the Point Reyes peninsula. Got any favorite fishing stories from those waters?

Before the Estero was protected, we used to fish for leopards off Bull Point, go clamming along the muddy shores, and I’ve seen the taxman near the mouth in Drakes Bay.  10mile beach is a blast during the striper run and you never know what ends up in the lagoon when the sandbar blows out. But there is one story that I’ll never forget.   I was sailing a Toro sailboat on the lagoon one afternoon, and out of nowhere, something rather large  came to the surface and was swimming straight towards me.  It went directly below the boat and descended out of sight.  There were three others OTW that day, nobody knows what it could’ve been. It was spooky.
