I'm heading to mbk tomorrow morning as well. If you don't mind a Noone kayaker  I'd love to hookup with you.
Was hoping to target some rockfish but anything will suffice.

Hmm...with all these shark reports I may just Rick traffic and head towards mbk to fish near cannery. I guess if anyone else is heading out this saturday, give me a holler.

I'm shooting for SC as well. Hopefully someone will be able to meet up. If I don't have another to fish with, I will probably be cruising up and down the outlet before the lighthouse.
Please PM if interested!

I take no offense when it comes to questions about my safety or anyone else.
To answer your question, I feel that I have the necessary equipment to be safe on the water and for those I'm with.
As mentioned in my intro, I am new to Kayak fishing hence the low post count.
PFD, Radio, whistle, flag etc...were my top priority to have checked off prior to even posting/replying to a hookup.
** forgot to mention the farmer john wetsuit and booties as well. Also, I've practiced capsizes and self recovery in my pool many times.

I do truly appreciate the concern/question.

Hope that helps.

I was also planning to hit those locations this Saturday morning "Early!"
Talked to a buddy and confirmed that its "THEE Carshow" in Monterey this weekend.
If you can't get in super early and out by 2pm, then you should stay away, were his words.
This will be my first time out on the yak so i wouldn't mind tagging along with you to SC or MB if you want to attempt it.
That is, if you don't mind a noob kayaker!
Saturday is the day for me and I would prefer to get out there super early...ie..like 6-630 ish if possible.
Need to be back in San Jose before 4pm.

If that works for you guys or anyone else, please shoot me a PM and I'll send you my contact info.
Otherwise, I may risk heading into MB and fishing off of Cannery.

Thanks,
David

@Darius and AlsHobie,
I'm based out of San Jose so Monterey, SC, HMB are well within range and just about the same travel time.
The kayak is rigged and all my safety gear arrived while I was in Denver so I'm pretty much ready to roll. Last thing I needed was my radio which came in yesterday.
I'm open Saturday morning and pretty much all day Sunday I think. So either day is good for me.
Hell, I may even go both days..
Just let me know when/where and Ill be there.

I heard Salmon are heading up the gate but I haven't fished for Salmon in years. Probably need to brush up on tactics if thats a target. For me, just getting out on the water is enough. I wouldn't mind some fish on deck either!

Just got back from Denver on business.. :smt002! Had a blast fly fishing but I'm itching to get into the kayak.
Planning on going to Monterey Bay this Saturday morning 8/15 early for maybe a half day of fishing. Weather reports look pretty decent and calm for Saturday.
Since this will be my first outing, I was wondering if anyone was interested in meeting up. Would be sweet to hook up with some of you and even sweeter if I can bring back a fresh catch for dinner.
I will be leaving from San Jose super early...maybe 530-6 am and will fish until maybe noon or later if the fishing is on.
If anyone is interested, please shoot me a message or PM and I'll send my contact info.
If I can't get anyone to tag along with, I will most likely be putting around in the harbor solo....

Thanks,
Dave

Thanks for all the good vibes!
I'm off to Denver for business next week so the earliest chance I have to get out would probably be the weekend of the 7th.
Have some safety stuff on order and want to get myself and the yak sorted out before hitting the water. I will definitely post a hookup when I get back.

Awesome and thanks for the offer to hitch a ride. I will certainly hit you up. asap!

Hey all,
Been fishing from the surf/shore for as long as I can remember. Also fished from party boats from time to time.
I have been lurking these forums for some time and finally can say that I'm a new daddy to a 2015 Outback.
Super stoked to get out and catch some real fish as well as some exercise.
Live in San Jose, CA but frequent the shores from HMB down to MB. This is my first yak and can't wait to get wet.
Looking forward to hooking up with you guys. As this is my first yak, I will probably spend some time in the pool to get the hang of it and eventually want to get out on the water once she's dialed and rigged.
Safety is my main concern and I dont have any friends that kayak at the moment either.
Hopefully I can hook up with you guys and get out on the water.
