He’s not learning them.  I responded to his post on Reddit last nigh.  He replied, that basically there’s nothing he could have done differently.  Inshallah.

So yes, lots of lessons to learn, but the guys in the video so far aren’t too receptive.

Yeah I was really disappointed by that and that they did not take the opportunity to help others learn from their numerous bad decisions (heck they couldn't even manage a sharp knife). Their biggest take away seems to be that the coast guard was negligent for not getting to them faster. It totally went over their heads that the coast guard was telling them to ask for help from nearby boats because it would be awhile before they could reach them. Of course, without a radio they couldn't do that. They were very lucky, but having apparently learned nothing from the experience it seems they will get another chance to earn that Darwin award they seem to crave.

NEVER in my life have I wanted to BITCH SLAP two people more.
Might as well have a piece of rebar for a knife.
Title should read 'Two Dorks Go kayak Fishing' or 'How NOT to Go kayak Fishing'.
No immersion gear, no life jacket.
NO HELP from the partner other than the dude making a phone call. Could have been ordering pizza, same amount of effort.
Dip shits like this give us all a bad rap.
I did not even see an attempt to self rescue.
If anyone who is reading this has direct contact with either of these dorks, please bitch slap them for me.
Thank you.

Orange sweatshirt had a PFD.  It was behind him.  It might get in the way if he had to wear it.

So did the guy in the water at 16:03. He had on an inflatable pfd and it's better than nothing  :smt003

It appears (at least to me) that his kayak WAS an Ascend 133.  That kayak weighs in at about 145 pounds stripped.  Explains why he was pooped just dragging that barge across the beach.  I'm curious if the raised seat had anything to do with flipping.  Lessens learned?  Hopefully.

I'm missing something here. Why did they not try to get back on the kayak? You could lay on like a surf board to get out of the water.

I guess the millennials don't know how to take the blame. It's the coast guards fault that they are idiots.

Unfortunately, social media is driving more and more goofballs like this to get into stuff over their skill and experience level. Doin' it for the 'gram. Like many people on youtube, they need to focus more on the activity rather than trying to create some kind of image or channel.

The partner not wearing the PFD was obviously silly, but he was also cold. The PFD surely would have helped retain some heat.

He posted in the comments that it had a cracked hull. I'd bet because he gorilla throws that thing around because it's so heavy, although I have no idea.

No, they didn't learn from that either.  He  bitched about THAT too.  Millennials; it's everyone else's fault, no responsibility.  I cheered a little when he said his kayak was dragging him down.  Wanted to see what his duddy buddy did with that.  Probably grab the dude's lunch and eat it while enjoying the show.

I’m guessing that dragging the 145 lb kayak plus whatever weight with trolling motor and batteries and all across the ground who knows how many times eventually wore a hole thru the hull.

Like having a condom in your wallet and reaching for it after sex.
