Safety First / Rock fish spine protection
« on: October 31, 2020, 07:54:19 PM »
I use those gardening gloves that giving away at the Albions. So many newer better cut resistant gloves (Kevlar/Dyneema) are out there nowadays and they pretty cheap too. They're not spine proof but much better than bare hands  If you get the thin ones, they're dexterity enough that you can even tight some knots too.
& I use Boga grip.

Hello Mark,

I took my surf zone class through Blue Water Kayaking out of Point Reyes Station and took a 3 hour private lesson with Brian. My instructor Brian was great and a ACH certified instructor. Only downside is with the scheduling and communication from the front office, took a month to get a date (they are focusing on trips). There is also Liquid Fusion Kayaking our of Fort Bragg, potentially thinking of doing another class up there or with Brian.

Nice :thumleft:
Safety is the most important part, and fish will follow!

2 Sets of Hully Rollers and Mako saddles that fit round yakima bars. They've seen better days, but still some life left. Located in Fairfield.
vwool-Victor was looking for one.

I like the combo of the 6 inch Victorinox boning, and a big serrated Dexter for cutting through rib bones or to cut off heads etc.

Sincerely,

Jim
Is that ocean striper? Looks really good :smt007

Thank you all for the greetings!

Welcome Luis :smt006
I used to live there too!
It's the best time of year there right now!
Enjoy :smt004
Naoaki, it is an awesome time of year! I am already enjoying a lot more windows to be out on the water (although we do have a nice storm this weekend). Small community out here. Were you working in Bodega too?
Yeah, I used to work at the Marine lab with couple of old-timer here. It changed quite bit, but it gets much smaller in the winter time too...

Dexter or Victorinox. Americas Test Kitchen does knife testing and Victorinoxknives keep coming up 2nd or third against knives that cost 4 or 5 times as much. If you want more info on the right knife, look up The Knife Merchant in San Diego and call them
Good to know.
I have bunch of SS Dexter Russells. They're easy to take care of but pretty soft so dull very quick...
might give the Victorinox try.

Leatherman Skeletool CX
Small, light & comes w/ pocket clip and has most of stuff that I need.
Save me bunch in the field

I got one of those for my son one Christmas a long time ago.  He uses it a lot as well.
Yes, small enough that in my pocket everyday. I have a bigger Leatherman in my backpack, but never have to use it.
