Title: Why no football talk?
Post by: ScottV on October 21, 2014, 01:47:50 PM
Usually this time of year there are a couple threads on football.  Is it because of how bad the local teams are playing?  Raiders are winless, Colin gets pulled in the loss to the Broncos.

Thanks goodness the Broncos are playing great this year, looks like they finally figured out a really good winning formula.

GO BRONCOS!!!

GO GIANTS!!!

Hey now, no Raider bashing.  There are, what?  32 teams in the NFL and all of them have won a game this season.

Oh....

Wait.....

Never mind.  The bashing is deserved!

Go GIANTS!!  3 World Series games in 5 years!!

Watching last year's super bowl, as a Broncos fan I felt terrible, but at least I felt. You have an ugly ass logo tattoed to your chest and I guarantee you haven't watched a full game in years and even given a shit because you know they suck and will continue to suck. Yeah, the "Donkeys" got blown out in a super bowl last year, but they were in A super bowl. Your Raiders can keep playing shitty football in a shit filled coliseum...and like it :smt002 I'll rock orange and blue till I die...and like it :smt007

Oh brother, here we go. Cowboys fans worldwide are just starting to get their hopes up, and when Romo wets the bed in January(as he usually does in December), it's going to be that much funnier. That, of course, coming from a 49ers fan who is blatantly envious of the Cowboys and their 6-1 start.  :smt044

I have only liked one football team and that is the Broncos.  I never cared about football until I moved up here from So-Cal 18 years ago.  My cousins have been die hard Bronco fans all their lives and since I was hanging with them I became a Bronco fan and started watching football.  And I have been a Raider hater all my life, but then again I hated all Los Angeles teams including the Lakers.

So what say you know not so funny boy?

And yes the Broncos got spanked hard in the super bowl, but they were in a Super Bowl.

As a NE Pats fan all I have hear about is the "Tuck" rule and another orginal "Belicheat,"  but to the Raider Nation I got one question the tuck rule happened in the 2001 season, why have you sucked for so long?  I mean WTF one fricking play and you haven't recovered in 13 years.  Move on, we did.  When we played you back in 76 or 77 and pulled a play that allowed you to go to a post season didn't hear us cry for 13 fricking years, when Jack Tatum broke Darryl Stingly's neck we didn't fricking cry for a decade plus. Don't hear 49'er fans crying about Big Jim and his Saints target plan. Get over and move on.  Its your turn to suck, now man up every team gets a shot at it.

It's all about leadership.  The right experienced coach and GM combo could get the Raiders turned around, though the AFC West is tough now.  They've got some talent and more high draft picks coming. Niners were bad under Nolan and Singletary, then Harbaugh turned it around immediately and got the team playing at a high level and a bunch of individuals upped their game to an All-Pro level.  The right coach could do the same for the Raiders - it's an opportunity for the right guy - and the Raiders should pay whatever it costs to get the right guy. They need someone forceful like Harbaugh or Gruden to change the losing culture from the get go.  Couldn't really get excited for the last few coaching choices.  Go Raiders!

this years draft class is a true foundation to build upon.

Derek Carr = our future QB. he's smart , mature beyond his years and the kid could play. he's got a strong arm and quick release and isn't scared to throw towards top DBs. you give him some weapons and this kid will be a super star. also this...we got him in the 2nd round , he's better then teddy bridgewater , blake bottles and johnny manziel who isn't even starting!

Khalil Mack= rated 3rd best defensive player on pro football focus. he has more tackles for a loss then JJ watt right now. No sacks but thats because our defensive line can't put enough pressure on the QB with a 4 man rush. at the games i watch him and he is always double teamed and there were numerous flags thrown for holding on the opposing team. best 1st rounder we drafted since charles woodson.

Gabe jackson 3rd round: already starting and while he makes mental mistakes has been a bulldozer. we needed to get younger on our Oline and he fits the bill nicely.

Cuz the Raiders have such a good track record with the #1. [emoji13]
and other wise choices also!  :smt012

I heard on CBS Sports Radio weds. that the Raiders will be in LA in 2015....a large market team with lots of $$$$ Corp.Sponsorship. Oakland is broke and unfixable. Laughing stock of the NFL!!

BUTiWILLstillSUPPORTmyTEAMviaMYcablePROVIDER!  :smt008

Nope they tried out for the Lingerie League. Problem was they were turned down because they couldn't be completive. So now they are trying out for the local high school team.  But really go back to LA. Why would LA have them. AL Davis charged A city last time they thought about moving, a million dollars to send Art Shell down to look at the location. Davis took the money and ran. That is why they are called the traders down in SOCAL.

What a sucky weekend of games.  The Broncos totally sucked, the 49er's need a new front line and a quaterback that doesn't fumble when it really counts, and the Raiders, well they are the Raiders.

It depends on your perspective, Manning Brady Bowl 16, Peyton has sunk to 5-11, ouch that hurts, Tom is 11-5

Niners need to go 6-2 in the remaining games this season. With games AT Saints, Seattle, NYG and home against Seattle, Arizona, and Chargers...also have games against Oakland and Washington. I doubt they can do it but maybe they'll surprise me!

and i do hope we go 0-16 this year , we need to secure that 1st pick.

Tampa and NYJ is running in close 2nd third slots.  Their could be serious contenders for last place.  Win one game and your are in a  potential 3 way tie.

I don't think it matters much this year. There's no real man among boys stand out first pick. As long as your in the last 5 you've got a good shot at some good talent.

What is the Raider nation going to do if and when the Raiders move to San Antonio?  Davis came out of the meeting very happy with the results, which have not been announced yet.

Will they all jump ship and become 49'er fans?  And if so, does the black hole become a red hole? :smt044

It was a pretty intense game! Niners dominated the first 3 & half qtrs, until they started dropping passes in the 4th. Then the Saints started throwing it around & took the lead (prior to that, Ingram was getting a lot of run and he looked really good too). Saints put themselves in perfect position to throw a hail mary as time expired. And the Niners got lucky both refs threw a flag on Jimmy Graham as he caught the potential game-winning, season-turning touchdown. Both teams got a chance in OT before Ahmad Brooks sacked Brees & forced the fumble. Btw I have Brees & Graham on my fantasy team and started Brandon Cooks for the 1st time all season...it was a good move!

Kaep is not an elite QB. I don't even see him throwing 30 TDs in a season, ever. No comparison against the Top 3 QBs in the league. But he plays hard and he's a winner. And he's an elite athlete.
The thing is...he doesn't need to be better than Manning, Brady, and Rogers. He just needs to be good enough to lead his team to a Superbowl win. And I think he's good enough to do that. In which case, compare his stats against the last 3 superbowl-winning QBs: Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, and Russel Wilson.

I was looking at the remaining schedules for the Niners, Seattle, AZ, Philly, Dallas, Detroit, and GB. And I had a revelation: if Arizona has already clinched the West (and possibly a 1st Rd bye) when they play the Niners in the final game of the season...will they rest their starters? That would be pretty sweet. And I'll be at that game.

Not a 49`er fan ( Colts fan) ...but this article was in the local paper ( Lowell Cohn) about kaepernick (sp?) being/not being an elite qb....the article used the last 3 seasons as a the study ..interesting....personally he doesnt play like these 3, different styles ..( look at rushing yards/TD !!!)..anyway just something maybe to debate  and have fun with

3 TD for every INT is not good. That's the ratio you want to look at.

The verdict is still out on Kap, but as it stands now, he's just not a top 5 QB in the NFL. Elite athlete, definitely, but not an elite QB. Under another system, he has the skill to be a 30/10 player but given the Niners commitment to the run game (rightfully so), he's just not going to put up those kinds of passing numbers. Until be can develop some touch on his passes, his completion percentage will suffer and it all unravels from there. On the upside, he's young and still developing. On the downside, his progression appears to have stalled (some would even say regressed). Looking at those stats and continuing to beat a dead horse, remember when the Niners passed on Rodgers for Alex Smith ? Yeah ...

The Niners are in a decent spot all things considered. It'd be nice to have the Bears and Rams games back especially, but they still have lots of key matchups left where they can control their own destiny. Not to mention some games against teams that they should dominate(sorry Raiders). Its going to make for an exciting December anyways !

Wow! LeGarrette Blount resigns with the Pats for a two year deal after the Steelers released him.

That guy can be a monster but he's the TO of running backs.
If they can reign him in that guy is a freakin beast.

He's a throwback runner and runs with bad intentions......definitely a thug but he can tote that rock.

New England Patriots

On April 27, 2013, Blount was traded to the New England Patriots for Jeff Demps and a 7th round selection (229th overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft.[68]

On December 29, 2013, Blount led the Patriots to a playoff bye with a win over the Buffalo Bills by rushing for 189 yards on 24 carries scoring 2 TDs and returning 2 kickoffs for 145 yards with a long of 83 yards. Blount set a franchise record for all-purpose yards with 334 yards.

On January 11, 2014, Blount rushed for four touchdowns setting the Patriots record for most rushing touchdowns in a playoff game and is second on the all time list for rushing touchdowns in a playoff game, only behind Ricky Watters, who scored 5 in a playoff win against the New York Giants in 1994. In addition to the feat, Blount finished the day with 166 rushing yards on 24 carries, as the Patriots defeated the Colts with a final score of 43-22.[69]

Not bad for Meh  :smt009

BTW I'm a niner fan not a pats fan but Ive been following this guy and know that he has lots of potential.

LeGarrette Blount makes immediate impact in return

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- One week ago as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, running back LeGarrette Blount walked off the field early after receiving zero carries. Now back in a New England Patriots' jersey, Blount carried the football like he never left the Pats.

Blount was asked after the game if he was surprised he made this quick of a turnaround. He shrugged off the question with a confident “no.”

“It’s a blast,” Blount said of being back with the Patriots. “I missed it here.”

LeGarrette Blount celebrates the first of his two touchdowns in his return to the Patriots.
Blount finished with 12 carries for 78 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the Detroit Lions.

On his first touchdown, Blount paid tribute to former teammate Antonio Brown by performing the Steelers receiver’s hip-twisting touchdown dance.

“That was to my homie, man,” Blount said. “He’s going to always be a lifelong friend of mine. That was a little tribute to him. And like I said, he’s always going to be a close friend of mine.”

Blount, who became the Patriots’ big-bodied, bruising running back down the stretch in 2013, doesn’t see any differences between last year’s and this year’s offense.

“No, it looked like they clicked on all cylinders to me,” Blount said. “The offensive line just went out there and did a really good job. They were opening up some nice pieces for me to run through. Just when you get to the second level and break a couple tackles, that’s what makes the long runs. For the most part [the Lions] played well, we just played better.”

After Jonas Gray rushed for 201 yards on 37 carries last week against the Colts, Blount didn’t know what to expect in terms of a workload.

“I was prepared for anything,” Blount said. “I came in and they told me just be prepared for whatever we use you for, so I made sure I was ready.

“I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t assume anything. Like I said, they told me to come in here and just be ready for whatever role they put me in and I just came here prepared to do whatever they wanted me to do.”

Team captain and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork is glad to have Blount back with the team.

“He knows how we do things around here,” Wilfork said. “He’s never been a problem for us and I don’t see him being a problem for us, but it’s going to be up to him to do what he knows he can do. He knows he’s got a full supporting cast of his teammates and his coaching staff behind [him] and we feel the same way toward him and he feels the same way toward us.

“I’m just happy to see him back and it was a good welcome back for him today against a team like Detroit.”

After Blount’s stint in Pittsburgh had an ugly ending, he was thankful for the Patriots giving him yet another chance.

“It felt good,” Blount said. “It’s refreshing.”

Niners will get a draft pick for Harbaugh but it won't be anywhere close to the value that Cleveland was prepared to offer two years ago. Fans are grossly over valuing Harbaugh and don't seem to realize that the league is wise to the immense dysfunction that seems to follow him wherever he goes. It won't be Oakland or the Jets - neither team is in the position to give away picks for a coach that can bolt a year later. Maybe the Giants offer a second round pick if Coughlin gets canned.

This is the Raiders Super Bowl. If they lose so what it's just another loss.

If the Niners lose it will be an all time low for the year and an embarrassment

Harbaugh and Kapernick to Oakland for Carr and pick(s). Obviously, its not going to happen but you could make the case that the Niners would be in a better place if it did. Draft a true downfield receiver and find a replacement for A.Davis and they're right back in the hunt next year.

What the 49'ers really need is a new owner.  Colin is a descent quarterback, and if he studies good quarterbacks he has the potential to become one of the greats.  He just needs to set his ego aside.

Hmmm where`s Drew Brees and Tom Brady, Joe Flacco and Ben Roethlisberger to name a few ? be interesting to see if the article included these names with the above best 5 and their ranks ..of course this is just one guys` opinion  but still pretty cool article....

1.   Aaron Rodgers 106.5
2.   Peyton Manning 97.8
3.   Tony Romo   96.9
4.   Steve Young   96.8

6.   Tom Brady    96.1
7.   Drew Brees   95.7
8.   Kurt Warner   93.7
9.   Ben Roethlisberger    93.5
10.   Joe Montana   92.3

I just posted the top 10 career passer ratings because the article also used that metric (I still prefer it to the fancy new QBR Rating metric). Here's QBR: http://espn.go.com/nfl/qbr/_/year/0/type/alltime-season
BTW...your boy Colin Sack-or-Pick will bump Joe outta the top 10 once he reaches 1500 career pass attempts...his career passer rating is 93.2 haha! But don't worry, both Romo and Kap and most of the other QB's on that list will see their numbers go down as they get older. Except Peyton Manning, he's some sort of freak.

Current regime or not, they need an Owner, GM, and Coach that collectively realize that they don't all need to be best buds to be successful. As for Kap, he either needs to be allowed by the coaching staff to be that free-wheeling gunner of a QB that he was when he came into the league or he needs to grow up and learn the skills of a traditional QB.  Right now, they're forcing a squat less into a round hole with him. Chances are, he'll never develop the touch or finesse of a truly great QB but his athleticism should be being better utilized than it is right now.

I say at least one death off the field....this game is more like the movie The Longest Yard.

Yeah the cross dressers are probably Niner fans....yeah I said it

A lot of the Niner fans that go to the games suck. That's why I prefer to watch the games at home.

Raiders have a better fan base that go to the games.

It's just like Randy Cross said back in 1986

Dec. 4: San Francisco 49ers guard Randy Cross blasted the team's fans yesterday for not being more boisterous during the 49ers 21-17 loss Monday night to the New York Giants.
Cross' outburst came when asked what the 49ers had to have this week to defeat the Jets.
"Hopefully, our white-wine sipping crowd will decide to get off its collective ass and cheer," the 49ers guard told reporters. "They didn't make much noise Monday night. I thought they had a bunch of cardboard dummies up there."

When they made noise, Cross said, it was at the wrong time. "They don't cheer when the other team has the ball," he said. "When we get the ball, they are screaming and hollering so we can't hear the signals in the huddle."

I'm sitting here thinking of My fellow NCKA football fans. They must be in a quandary, who to root for except for a couple. Then I see the Raiders could live up to their So cal Name, The Traders. So cal will take your water, but I'm not so sure about the football team. It would be nice if it was the other way around. But LA doesn't need to pay for another loosing Proposition. I should have went fishing today. Maybe the last good day of the yr.

What's the deal with your random babbling?  You troll this thread with salty nonsense.....exactly what the hell is the point of this post?

Question is will the 49er's be up to a one time Super Bowl team? After all the 49er's are 5 time champions.  :smt044

Question is will Antonio be crying like a little girl again next weekend!

I guess you don't under stand the point of this whole thread. It is to mess with the others fans. Or can I say talk shit, I really don't take any sports so serious. If you can't take it don't read it. Besides I like two teams that are from where my parents have lived. Pac North West Seattle. California AFC team the chargers. And my point is when two bay area teams from different divisions play who do you root for. To me a bad game would be seattle against San Diego. Now does your brain work on that one. To me this thread is to talk trash!!!  :smt044 :smt044

Oh I understand it, now that you elaborated it just seems poorly worded rather than confused.

Ahhhh.....so you jump bandwagons between San Diego and Seattle, makes sense.  Talk about losers, between both teams you've lost more superbowls than you've won.  Gonna be a while before you get back on the plus side of that one.....did only take about 40 years to get that first ring in Seattle though so I'm sure you'll tough it out.

Ironic that you run the tired old trader nonsense out there since the chargers are one of the three teams considering an LA move.....solid work there.

NE is NFC. So whats wrong about that I lived in both areas. Had I lived here all my life and Family was just from California. I still may of had two teams to watch. Because at one time ( you may be too young ) American Football League was separate and never played each other.  :smt006

PS if you want to know why my grammar is bad read about the farmed salmon. I explained that on that thread.

the raiders will be on top sooner then later. heres  my vision: peyton manning retires after a knee injury 3 games into the 2015 season , that gives way to the brock osweiler era where you guys lose 2 in a row , those loses coming from the jaguars and a monday night home game against the san diego chargers. you guys then sign a jobless jay cutler for a 1 year "prove it deal" and all he proves is that he's still jay cutler. john elway gets desperate and phones timmy tebow but tebow tells him off and hangs up. kansas city and Oakland are now neck to neck in the AFC west and are ready to settle it in a sunday night football dust up where the derek carr era comes full cycle and the 2014 DROY khalil mack records 3 sacks against alex smith. alex smith cries but whats new and at the Andy Ried press conference when asked what went wrong he states " you got to give credit where credits due , those Raiders came to play"
the raiders then go on to win the AFC west and beat the bengals then the andrew luck lead colts in the playoffs. They then go head to head with the cleveland browns in the AFC championship and in the final drive with the score 21 to 24 , 3rd down and 20 seconds left on the 40 , johnny "football" is sacked by SIO MOORE for a loss of 8 putting the game away and RAIDER FANS CHEER EVERYWHERE.

Seeing as the Raiders are in last again and for the last 10 or so years, they can only improve.  So by on top I assume you mean not in last place.  Good luck with that one, until no Davis is associated with the team, they will continue to end up near the bottom.

And I hope you enjoy watching them as they move to Texas with Harbaugh is their coach.

Now that is a little more realistic, but then most Raider fans are so high on crack as stated above "thanks Cabeza de Maartillo", they do not know reality from imaginary.  But just remember, the Raiders can only improve, or actually go a whole season without a win, but I doubt that will happen.

But hey, look at it this way, the Raiders have made so many new records in the last couple of years you will always have that to cling on to.  Of course they are records for being the worst at something, but hey, something is better than nothing, right? :smt044

LOL all the raider haters love to talk about our last decade of losing while Al Davis was running things but you seem to forget that he died a few years back. His son Mark Davis now runs the team and he's a hands off owner . so why does the davis name matter now? the last decade of dysfunction is over. we are now rebuilding for real and we have had some pretty good drafts the last 2 years. thats how you build right? through the draft? we drafted our QB who is 23 years old and based on the majority of NFL analysts and sports talk shows , should of been the first QB taken in the 1st round based on his play this season. we also landed khalil mack who is playing like he should of been the first over all pick. a lot of positives actually even though we only won 2 games , were not dysfunctional like the washington redskins or the jets. were just a talentless team waiting to add more talent and get the right coach.

Broncos are still trying to recover from drafting tim tebow!! what do they do to make up for it? they go on a spending spree trying to buy there way into the super bowl instead of being patient . thats cool n all but history says that never works longterm and based on what I've heard you guys are gonna have to cut a bunch of talent and not be able to resign your youth because of the cap. In fact...thats exactly why the raiders have sucked for the last12 years , Al davis always trying to buy a winner instead of build a winner. thats not fantasy  , thats the way the world works so like i said , "enjoy it while it lasts" DONKEY FANS!!!

Hold on there hippykiller I've gone through a case and a half of those Niner tampons because I truly bleed red and gold.
I've watched every game since 1972. Most of which they sucked ass. Back in the 70s we use to listen to the games on the radio and move the electric football game pieces up and down the field in unison with the calls. Back then the home games didnt sell out and we didnt have the choice to watch it on the tube.

As a whole a lot of niner fans suck and there are too many band wagon jumpers out there. That's why I only wear the team colors when they lose because I'm a true fan.

Both teams have a better record then the Raiders this year, only 1 game better, but better.  So if they are dysfunctional, what does that make the Raiders.  :smt044

The Raiders have been sucking hard for 10 years straight, you shouldn't talk smack about any other team with that record.  So many early round picks and nothing to show for it.

If you truly think the Raiders will be better than the Broncos, then how about making a little wager for next years season?  $100 says the Broncos have a better season then the Raiders in 2015.

And yes I am a Raider hater, I have been for a very long time.  Plus I have only been a fan of one team, the Broncos!

I will take your $100 bet that the Raiders will not sweep the Broncos next year.  So that means if he Broncos win just once against hte Raiders next year, you lose.  And I only take cash!  The Broncos won 41 - 17 back in November, and I expect about the same on the 28th.  Broncos probably won't even play their 1st string.

And by the way, I do not have a Tebow jersey, nor was I fan of him and nor do I have pom pom's.  But that is the type of response I expect from a Raider fan.

I was wearing my Niner gear during the game surrounded by at least 20 charger fans in a pub in Vegas.
I was the only Niner fan in the joint.
On Sunday I proudly wore my gear while bar hopping along the strip amongst hoards of Seahawks, Cowboys and Charger fans.
Came home Tuesday morning wearing Niner gear again. Didn't see one other Niner fan wearing any colors in both the Vegas or San Jose airports. A bunch of band wagon jumpers......pretty sad.

Isn't it better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt?  Along that logical thought, wouldn't it be better to be thought a loser than to wear Niner gear and remove all doubt?

I confess, I'm one of those fair weather Seahawk fans.  I get a lot of flax from my morning coffee group, all Niner and Raider diehard supporters/fans.

Thanks, I'd much rather have the Raiders' problems than the Redskins' or Jets' problems. Solid Coach + Solid QB go a long ways in the NFL. Raiders may have both next season and the Redskins and Jets will still have neither. All this coming from a Niners fan.

Anybody else going to the SF vs AZ tomorrow?     When I got these tix I thought for sure this game was gonna be for the West crown or a playoff spot at least. But....dot dot dot. I'm still really psyched for the game but it's not going to be the same.

I am ok that the team with the worst record won't win it all(according to history), But I do have to say.... GO PANTHERS...... it has been one hell of a year for them. first time in their franchise history they tied a game(Bengals), First team in their division to win back to back division titles and they are under .500

Manning is no longer Manning. His records speak as to how good a player he has been. Playoff games in my opinion are really just the same games played in regular season with more hoopla thrown in. QB's are neither better or worse overall for winning or losing them. How many SB's did Elway take Denver to and how many did they win? Teams rise and fall and Denver may be on a decline after Manning but the team will be in a better position to rise again with a new QB.

Being the token NE Pats fan, I am was so bummed to not see another Manning-Brady bowl.  The highlight of the season is that game screw the SB.  When those two meet it is one hell of a game.  Even when we lose to Manning we know we lose to great QB.  THe two QB's have mutal respect for each other, and know on any given Sunday each can destroy the others best laid defense, if they are not up to best.  I respect Peyton for what he has done, I hope he sits back collectively looks back and decides that if it is time to go out while he was at the top (like his GM Elway) and not like Favre who became a shell of the greatness he once was.  That said TB may have a season or two left as well, it will sting when he retires, Ihope he also makes a wise choice and steps down when the time comes than try to hold on too long.

Nope, no need.  Nothing makes me happier than beating the Raiders.  I love listening to them say how great their team is even though it hasn't had a winning season in 10 years.

In reality I am not even that big of a football fan.  I could give or take the sport.  Until I moved up north about 18 years ago, I didn't care about football at all.  But my cousins are die hard fans so I would end up watching the games with them so I became a Bronco fan.  As long as they beat the pathetic raiders, I am happy.

No one said he should retire, but him taking the Broncos to a SB win is done. Elway brought him in and spent a bunch of many on folks to win now and it ain't going to happen. He can still compete obviously, but that's not what Elway was going for.

just like i said ...broncos getting desperate signing all these expensive free agents with the expectation to the coaches that they make it to the super bowl ends up back firing. teams like baltimore , seattle N green bay have a different approach and its real simple : build through the draft and find your franchise QB ,ride shit out.compete year in year out. don't go out and sign all these free agents only to cut them because of the salary cap. i seen this shit coming and if you were a real fan you would of seen it too. turns out your just a fair weather fan  who can't have a real football conversation with a rival who back treads when your team loses. It was leaked after the game thag he's been playing with a partially torn quadriceps for about a month now. Makes sense now why he chose to force a ball into traffic on that 3rd and 5 rather than take advantage of the 20 yards of open space and run. If it is the end, even with the postseason record, he's a hell of a QB.

And as for pitchers and catchers, you're speaking my language. PLAY BALL !!!

Took Valentina to her first Saints game while we were home.

We lost, but she had a blast!!  :smt003

Pre-game we went on my friends "topless bus" (a greyhound he bought and chopped the top off of and installed speakers and coolers to make it the ultimate party bus) and she got to throw left over mardi gras beads to folks while we drove around the french quarter.

Then we met up with fellow NCKA member and my dive buddy mikemcg and his son and all watched the game together.

Great experience and while a win would've been nice at least she got to see how the Saints fans and Falsons fans could still be good natured to each other despite the huge rivalry that we have, and that losing a football game is no reason to get nasty or upset.

I followed the Seahawks through their Jimmy Zorn and Steve Largent years.  Curt Warner was the promised land but his knee didn't hold.  Brian Bosworth? Not much I can say about him, but he sure was entertaining.  I may have strayed for a few years, but if it took a Superbowl to bring me back, well, so what!!!

That's bull shit. Some of us didn't grow up where there was a pro team, so as a kid we pick for all sorts of reasons. Some of us are also die hard college fans , and watch players develop an go onto the pros and end up pulling for them and their team. So I like the ravens since Courtney Upshaw and CJ Mosley are playing there. I had a soft spot for the Raiders because Stabler. I'll pull for the Falcons since I've watched Julio Jones from his freshman year. It's fun to watch these guys develop and root for them to have success.

Anyone can root for as many teams as they like, professional football is an entertainment industry with ever changing landscape of players switching teams.

I always liked Largent as a kid, so I would pull for the Seahawks when they were on. Dallas was always first for me since where I grew up the choices were Falcons, Saints or Cowboys. Dorset was a badass and so was Walker, easy choice for a kid (even though white shoes Johnson was always a hero of mine). I wore my Cowboys hat when they went 1-15 and when they won 3/4 SB. started pulling more for the Hawks once I got out west. I pulled for them when they sucked, when Holmgren took em to the SB, when they sucked again, and with Carrol. If they played the Cowboys it would be Dallas, but there's no fast rules for being a fan of a professional production.

So my two least favorite teams playing on Sunday.

There's one pats fan that I know of on here Kevin and as far as Seahawks fans maybe Seaweed. The others I think are pretty much bandwagon jumpers.

Anyway this is how Madden has it planned to go down.
Hope it's a close one.

Hey win or lose, come Monday I will still be a NE Fan because I recall the days of 1-15 records (x2 seasons) the worst SB in history (85 Bears win), and I stuck with them, kind of like a Cubs fan.

And for all the tuck Rule Raiders whiners out there, I have never forgotten what Jack Tatum did to Darryl Stingly in the preseason of '78. And how a bad call sent Oakland to a SB in 1976

http://www.sfgate.com/sports/kroichick/article/Raiders-Patriots-have-memorable-playoff-history-2881246.php

The ref did not officiate in Foxboro for something like 10 years for fear of getting killed.  That was our lost decade.  So when I hear the tuck rule and how Oakland would of been different I just chuckle, turnabout is fairplay, you had that one coming!

I remember that hit vividly but I believe it was a legal hit by Tatum.
Not a Raiders fan but I also played with reckless abandon. Thats one of the many reasons I'm so banged up now :smt003

RIP to both Tatum and Stingly

Yeah freak hit, but a lot of remember Tatum,s attitude for years as no big deal.  It was an Raider mindset for years.  Only until years later did he ever give a crap.  I don't know the bad blood between those two teams goes back a very long way, far further than 2001. Not that NE was a great team back then because it wasn't.  But you have ot wonder if NE had gone on what would the outcome be now?

I watched that '76 playoff game with my dad, and recall that play, were psyched we were going to next round hell it was 3rd and 18 we didn't think they were going to do it only to see it stolen.

I remember seeing that hit too. Kevin, do you remember that the Patriots coach Chuck Fairbanks never checked in on Stingley at the hospital but John Madden did? I don't believe there was bad blood between the teams back then. So, who cares more...or less?

Cool to watch this and that is as close as NE will get to a win. In the video game. In Vegas  it depends on the Casino Some have them even and one will say NE and another will say Seahawks. I just hope the players are allowed to play with out Referee interference. No matter who wins I expect a good game. And to those of you going fishing Good Luck as well.

Yeah, hopefully they can finally have that happy little workplace that Jed and Trent have always wanted. They can kumbaya themselves right into the cellar in the West. Amazing how quickly windows close in the NFL.

Don't go throwing dirt on the coffin just yet. They haven't even played a game yet. All they need to do is win 8 games to tie what we did this year.

Everyone is jumping off the bandwagon  :smt009

Ya, it could be a bad omen.  They all should wear Belichick's color scheme.  Might as well, they're all drinking his cool aid (tough choice, the alternative is the door).  Go Pats!

Anybody see that 3rd and 20 draw up the middle against the 49ers defense that resulted in a Buffalo first down? I will tell you as a Seahawks fan surrounded by 49ers fans watching at my wife's family reunion nothing made happier than seeing that play and the  continued comedic struggles of the 49ers. I was the only up screaming and cheering as everybody else everybody else had there heads down in shame as the pride of the Bay Area took yet another epic and humiliating beating. Btw I got myself a new avatar. Thinking of putting one on my yak also... I think that would look pretty awesome!

That is why I haven't put any Seahawks stickers on my truck yet. I don't know what would happen to it when I park it somewhere, lol. I figure just me wearing my Richard Sherman jersey is enough most of the time. I have actually had some pretty heated confrontations in stores a few times with some crazy fans.

No worries. Pole finally took down his Seahawks avatar after two years and he's not even a fan.

Niners suck right now and I know that play you speak of.....sad sad sad.  :smt009

But I'm still a loyal Niner fan  :smt001

Good luck to you guys this year.

I endured a lot of year of the Seahawks sucking. Like my entire childhood and young adulthood. I know what it is like, haha. I was really interested to see how Kap would do in his return though.
