General Talk / Re: Kayak Storage or Rental?
« on: April 18, 2024, 12:30:21 PM »
A guy that used to fish stored his Kayak at HMB Kayak Co at one point.  Not sure how much it cost.
They rinse the boat and put it away so I think you need to paddle with your pinkies up if you store it there.

Unless you have a time machine and you’re talking about the 1990s.
If anyone with a time machine is going back to the 90's, specifically before 1998, would you do me a favor and send a postcard to past me saying that Elisabeth has crabs? Would save me from a good bit of hassle.  Thanks in advance!

General Talk / Re: My sourdough won't double in size!

Following up.
She suggested to feed it once and keep it warm (78-85F) until it gets active.  If you continue to feed it when it's not active you will reduce the % of yeast vs flour water and you might make it more challenging for it to become active again. because it was dried and re hydrated it might take longer than expected.
no doubt there are many paths to success here.

Sometimes they get sick.  What's your feeding ratio and room temp? I got a buddy I can ask but i figure those'll be her first questions.

Safety First / Re: Cold Water/Weather Clothing
« on: December 11, 2023, 10:18:55 AM »
If i'm hot I dip my feet and fill the boots or splash the legs on the wetsuit.  Was reading that the soles of your feet and palms are the most efficient way to shed heat.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19640130/
I wear a wool layer under the splash jacket and that helps me regulate the temp pretty well hot and cold.  Lots of numbers thrown out about the % of wool's retention of heat when wet, but I found it to work for where and when I go out.

CA Regulations / Re: RF Reg. Petition - Rockfish Nearshore Draft Petition
« on: September 22, 2023, 09:53:25 AM »
Thanks for doing all this. These new regs are totally unfair to us kayakers. The party boats just keep loading up.

Nuts to see ling and rf limits for 20 people in a day.  Clearly this is where the pressure is coming from.  Thank you for all the work being put into this petition.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / Re: MBK DERBY! September 16, 2023
« on: September 18, 2023, 10:00:44 AM »
Thanks for putting on the tournament Adam and MBK.
I went down to the hotel then on the way back found a big fish on a frozen anchovy. Heavy with big head shakes up from 80’ to about 20’ then a handful of heavy but short runs down.  Good gaff shot at the boat but it was heavy and woke up when I was getting the stringer in.  Big washing machine action, gaff out but I got it back in. Got the stringer and paddled back with it on the front of the kayak. Couldn’t fit it in the kill bag and didn’t want to try and lose it.  It was a go home fish.  This thing was a beast, it weighed in 39.39 lbs and 44.5”. Biggest fish let alone halibut I ever caught.. Still so happy I didn’t lose it at the boat
Thanks again Adam and MBK, amazing day. Lots of great prizes out there, y’all went big this year. I like the new way to do the raffle.

Safety First / Re: NRS farmer John wetsuit rash
« on: August 15, 2023, 10:14:06 AM »
I had a similar rash on my stomach often at the end of the day, now I put a thin shirt layer under my wet suit and I use this stuff to wash.  has helped to prevent the rash.
Revivex also makes a rain jacket refresher that works pretty well.  Soak then run in the dryer for a little bit. Improved the waterproofing of my well loved top layer, extending the life of it.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Chum box for sabiki
« on: August 14, 2023, 04:11:43 PM »
Found this stuff in Japan.  Same as the others, sits on top of the sabiki and showers whatever you put on it over the hooks.  The bag is a squid flavored filling.
I tried it out at SC but didn’t catch more bait that my buddy.  As Ted informed us there are no fish at SC. It bobbed while trolling like it had a little chovy stuck on it and blows through the chum quick.  Seems good for a stationary jig but chum blows so fast it’s lost if trolling with it. Have another set that has a 1/4oz ball inside.  Haven’t tried it so can’t say how differently it acts.

It was underlings all over and a little sloppy last weekend.  Looks like a 90 degree difference in the swell all this week.
Hope y'all find a big one and it's not a burpy ride. looking forward to the report!

Update:

I emailed him a second time and he apologized and was out of town, not checking email. He took it down off his website.  His graphic designer must have pulled an image search for Cabezon but didn't change hardly anything. I also contacted her via instagram.

Nice!
Good to know that there are still folks that can own a mistake and resolve them.  Respect him more than before Cabby-gate began.

I have a friend up in Grant's Pass with an farm.  He's looking for some equipment, who should I connect with? Ron?
to expedite, he says "Looking for: Trimming machines (Twisters, etc.), LED grow lights, Dehumidifiers, Tents"

First off what's your website to get this stuff?
Secondly it would be unfortunate if one were to troll him on the water and use demonetizing language when he's making his videos.  One might think it's worth a day of fishing to try and stop this kind of douchbaggery. I hear him and his pals have a tourney coming up, it would suck if they all can't make a video out of it due to persons exercising the 1st amendment in a public space.
