Threw flies all weekend at Albion. My best was the lingcod below.

I got the green light from work to go to Albion. I will be fly fishing to hopefully pick up some points for FAOTY. Anyone is welcome to join me.

Fishkraft and I went out to Frank's Tract today for a little striper action. We lucked out and found a huge school of stripers. We were able to enjoy catching fish while they busted the surface all around us for almost 2 hours! Fishkraft caught his first fly rod striper and I managed my first topwater striper on the fly rod. When all was said and done we had landed 25 12-16'' fish. Not bad for two people who have never fished the area.

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Albion Open 8/10/13

On top of the fish I managed on my fly rod (see my other post), I also managed to catch some bigger fish on conventional tackle. I kept the china and the cab and let the rest go to fight another day.

13
Well I finally manage my first saltwater fish on the fly in a kayak. I managed to land 6 black rockfish about 12 inches long in 5 to 10 feet of water working kelp edges with a size 2 white clouser. They were everywhere. Fellow fly rodders eat your heart out!

Anyone interested in an evening float from Jacob Meyers Park in Escalon to Mchenry Recreation area? I would be starting at about 5pm and fishing until dark, but I need at least one other person for shuttle. The river is going to be dropping fast next week and this could be the last opportunity for decent striper fishing on the river.

Sorry to post all of the non-yak reports lately. I keep going with guys from work. Went out of freeport for shad. No shad, although no one in the group had ever been to Freeport so we wer kind of flying blind. One nice smb though caught on an x-rap.
