Okay... it's official.  The Halfmoon Bay Kayak Co. is going to be our host sponsor for the derby and the event has been approved by the harbormaster at Princeton Harbor.

Here are the rules and details (subject to change before the event):

3rd Annual NCKA Half Moon Bay Kayak Fishing Derby
Sunday, June 10th, 2007
Princeton Harbor, Half Moon Bay, CA
$30 Entry Fee

(After June 4th: $40 late registration)

Event/Launch site: HMB Kayak Co.
Parking:  Lot "C" (50 yards away)
Vehicles, campers, RV's with boats/kayaks will be allowed to camp for $30/night.  Sorry, no tent camping allowed.

5:30am - Sign-in/waivers
6:00am - OTW tribute to Chef Stefano
6:30am - Official Derby Starting Time
11:30am - Weigh-in Deadline
12:00pm - BBQ Lunch
12:30pm - Awards Presentation
12:45pm - Derby and ASA Raffles

Official Rules:

1]   The tournament is open to kayaks, paddleboards or any other human powered vessels only. No motors allowed.
2]   This tournament will be limited to the following targetted species:  Rockfish (RCG), Lingcod, Halibut, Salmon, Striped Bass, WSB, Thresher Sharks.
3]   The biggest fish wins and will be measure by length not weight.  Only one fish per angler may be enter for the derby.   In the event of a tie, we will flip a coin.
4]   HMB Kayak Co. will have an support boat on the water which can be contacted on VHF Ch.69 for assistance.
5]   All anglers must have a valid California Fishing License, must abide by all CA DFG fishing regulations,, and must carry a Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Devices.
6]   All fish must be landed by rod and reel and unassisted by other anglers or boaters.
7]   The photos taken by the producers of this event will be the sole property of NCKA and may be used to promote future events or sponsors.
8]  The derby will be held "rain or shine", however, in the event of fog or other unsafe conditions, the tournament start may be delayed or postponed until it is safe to start.
9]   All contestants must check in at the NCKA booth to sign a waiver.
10]   All fish entries must be measured at the HMB Kayak Co. no later than 11:30am

NCKA will also have a benefit raffle for some fantastic prizes.  The proceeds will go directly to the American Sportfishing Association to support our efforts minimize MLPA closures on our California coast.

I think there is a new hotel tight inside the harbor as well for those that don't want to car camp it. I will try to find out the name. I will also see if we can get a group rate.

this is a big one, chuck, mooch and myself made a verbal commitment to raise a certain amount of money for the American Sportfishing Association to help keep the MLPA process sane.  for those who are sitting on the fence, i encourage you to come out and participate.  it will be a lot of fun.
