I heard that Spring Lake had plenty of action last Sunday with some really nice bass being caught in the shallows. Today I saw a couple 12 inchers caught but I never had a single grab. Maybe next time.    :smt006

Kayak Sailing / Tried out my new sail with the Hobie pa 14
« on: April 09, 2014, 11:41:36 PM »
I tried out my new sail today. What fun! Sailing and pedaling made for a terrific day at Spring Lake today.I trolled a swim bait just for the heck of it but the sailing is what really floated my boat! I can't wait to get out on San Pablo Bay and sail to a destination and catch some fish. Stripers, sturgeon, halibut, I don't care, it'll be fun no matter how you look at it!

I think I'll do one more trial run at Spring Lake next week and then be ready for some other body of water for my vacation in a couple of weeks.  Life is good! :smt001

General Fishing Tips / Getting ready for fishing
« on: April 08, 2014, 11:02:58 AM »
Hey guys, I'm getting set up with my pa14. I picked up a sail last week and I'm going to Spring Lake tomorrow to test it out and get more familiar with my yak.
I can't wait to get out to San Pablo Bay and catch me some great table fare. I'm also looking forward to fishing Tomales Bay but I don't know of a launching area other than Nick's Cove. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for being here for me. Allan  :smt006

Introductions / New guy in Santa Rosa
« on: March 10, 2014, 08:16:59 PM »
Hey guys, this is albeemer, Allan in person,in Santa Rosa. I'm in the process of getting my Hobie pa-14 set up for some terrific fishing. I've never fished from a kayak before so I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you guys. I used to fish from a ski boat turned fishing boat and caught halibut in Tomales Bay to steelhead up at Lake Sonoma to wading in the Russian River as well as most rivers along the northern coast. I prefer not to fish for largemouth bass. There are just too many other species to feed my family with.
I will be starting out with Stripers in the Petaluma River. Any ideas for the best put-ins there? Thanks so much for being here for us newbys! I hope to see all of you guys on the water one day.
