Places to Launch and Camp / Re: Lake Berryessa Kayak Launch Points
« on: May 19, 2012, 08:24:40 AM »
bought a montauk so have been using that for fishing this year so far for the most part!  Have had some great fish taken at Berry and a few nice stripers up in the Franks Tract area so far.

Fish Talk / Re: grey whales

I used to be crazy enough to fish the big blue  in my 14 foot Klamath and would venuture as far as the mouth of the russian river from Bodega or Muir Beach from the boat ramp under the golden gate.  Especially out of Bodega I would have greys come in to 100 feet of water or less and cruise right by me!   I think they are pretty aware of what's around them but that was just my general sense.  I have never really heard of a grey causing a human any harm?

Ouch, the worse kind of news.  We grew up thinking that the goverment we were paying with our taxes would never endanger us knowingly.

I am most likely going to ride with the tide up to china camp on Ruby Port with some friends and drop the yaks in at anchor there and fish etc.  If anybody is in the area come by for a cold one and say hi?  Would love to meet some of you.  I imagine we will fish the incoming in the afternoon and then head back to sausalito for the fire works.   Have a fun and safe fourth!

Don't know you but love your work!  Thanks for sharing your passion, great video and tribute to you pops.

Kayaks / Re: Hobie Revolution VS. Outback?
« on: May 27, 2010, 11:19:30 PM »
I have both and love both but at my size the Ouback is the clear choice.  I also have turbo fins and other than running aground and having to have the rod replaced  on it I have had nothing but fun on it.  I feel like the turbo fins are a big help and I can keep up with Lisa on her Revo no matter how hard she tries to get away!

I like the way they think!  I also loved fishing around a release last year at the mouth of the Napa.  Only hooked one Striper during the melee but it was something to watch!  Birds diving and my sonar was ready to blow up!

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: GS4 Movie

I could not have enjoyed that any more!

Nice striper!  Hard to believe sometimes that you can fish an entire day and only one fish is interested!

Great report and really nice job on the pics.  That is a fattie from the bank fisherman!

I have always had good luck using long plyers witht getting the hooks out while they are in the water.  Of course when you are on he beach this means getting pretty wet and a lot harder to get a cool picture, but I personally would never lift anything that I was releasing like that.  I don't think their bodies are set up for it, they live in just about zero gravity so that must be something else for them!  Must have been a fun fight?   I love catching and give upmost respect to their mean uncles.  J

Damn do I feel like I missed something that would be have been incredible to be a part of.  You can see by the smiles in the pics that you didn't have to hook a fish to have fun at this outing.  I love all othe pictures, and Ben, that is an incredible piece of art, I love your stuff!  An epic report of an epic day on the water.  Imagine has it been a day where a school or two swam through!
