Got my first yak Lingcod (28") around the Mile buoy in Santa Cruz this past weekend. Thanks to this group for all the advice and information--wouldn't have happened without it.

Introductions / Santa Cruz new to Kayak Fishing
« on: April 09, 2021, 11:15:44 AM »
Hey all! Finally got a yak (older Malibu Pro Explorer). Have been fishing for a long time, but am new to Santa Cruz and fishing from it. Managed to flip it on my first time out (caught a wave broadside) but at least now I'm confident I can right it once flipped and climb back in. Luckily everything was on lanyards and didn't lose anything beyond my bait. Looking forward to being part of the community!

Malibu Kayaks / Pro Explorer Hatch Cover
« on: March 14, 2021, 03:51:04 PM »
Rolled my Malibu Pro Explorer today while the hatch was open. Good news is the boat floats with the hatch cover open, bad news is the hatch cover doesn't float.

Any ideas on sourcing a replacement hatch cover? Any alternatives if I can't find one?

Introductions / SF Sailor new to kayak
« on: May 13, 2020, 10:00:37 AM »
Hello! I'm a sailor in San Francisco and often fish from the sailboat. This season's been off to a pretty good start with 2 keepers so far! I've been lurking on the kayak forums and contemplating getting one--I grew up on the East Coast with ocean kayaks, but haven't paddled in a while. Excited to learn more of your ways.
