« on: April 29, 2018, 11:51:46 AM »
I just mounted a scotty base in my pocket for the laketroller downrigger. I wanted to do the cuphilder base with the depthmastwr downrigger but I already had the laketroller and a scotty base laying around so I did this instead.

« on: August 28, 2017, 12:59:15 PM »
Im thinking about getting another kayak for quick trips or fishing in tight places/small water for my revo 13 can be a lot of work sometimes. Im looking for something about 10ft that is lightweight, paddles nicely, and is a SOT. If anyone has ideas that would be great

General Fishing Tips / Deep Six Rod
« on: August 15, 2017, 08:31:52 AM »
I was wondering what kind of rod some of you use for fishing Deep Six's? I have been using a pretty heavy rod and it handles the diver well but doesnt load up properly when I hook fish...

General Talk / HUGE FAVOR
« on: August 03, 2017, 07:18:23 PM »
While testing my new Lowrance hook 4 for the second time before my kayak camping trip to Hell Hole reservoir this weekend the unit will not turn on. I don't see any way it can't be a defect. I have it hooked up with the fuse holder and I'm getting a full 12v to the end of the power cord but the unit won't turn on or do anything. I was hoping someone had a Lowrance with GPS I could borrow for this trip. I could leave a safety payment of a couple hundred bucks for if something were to happen. There might be a fix to this but right now I'm kind of panicking that this will ruin my trip. Thanks

General Talk / Hell Hole Reservoir 8/5 - 8/8
« on: August 01, 2017, 09:20:58 PM »
After some thought of road tripping North to fish the coast and leap frog lake to lake, I think im going to make it simple and just fish one lake. Im planning on heading out to Hell Hole for some kayak camping and fishing. I've never been there before so if anyone has some intel or wants to go that would be great. It looks like the wind wont be too bad

General Talk / Road Trip Advice
« on: July 27, 2017, 10:10:12 PM »
In a week or so I plan on loading up my kayak and a lot of gear and heading North for 3 or 4 days to try to hit as many fishy places as possible. I would like to cruise along the coast for a while and try a few spots for lings and halibut and then travel inland to fish trout lakes or rivers. Im considering going as far as the Oregon border so any advice I can get about some good locations would be appreciated. Id be very interested in hitting some remote forest road only lakes as well and maybe doing a little rabbit/pig hunting if there is any to be had along the way. Thanks

General Talk / Eating Raw Halibut?
« on: July 16, 2017, 09:17:34 PM »
While cooking a halibut I caught the other day I snacked on a few scraps from trimming the fillets and they were very good. I wonder if its acceptable to do this or if any of you guys do it? My butt was from Tomales and it has been in the freezer for two days. Just wondering if its worth it or not to be eating it in larger portions.

General Talk / Rod Holder Advice
« on: June 27, 2017, 08:38:05 PM »
I just got a Hobie Revo 13 and im current buying all the things I need to get it on the water and fishing comfortably. One of the most important things of course would be the rod holders. I was hoping you guys could suggest some ideas of what would be a good all around rod holder for my cockpit area for halibut drifting, striper trolling, etc. So far ive been most interested in the rocket launcher type rod holders and ive thought of putting one in a scotty track adapter but would like to see if anyone has experience with other types. Also would you guys recommend a backing plate for the tracks?
