Recipes / Re: Help! Smoker won't get hot!
« on: December 24, 2018, 04:58:12 PM »
You need to have a 200 degree temp for 2 hours, that will allow for an internal temp of 160 degrees for 30 mins.
This is needed to ensure that any nasty parasites are killed.
Are you heating with propane or electricity?

Safety First / Re: Shark Shield group buy safety promotion
« on: November 04, 2018, 03:03:10 PM »
Those prices are cheaper when I participated in a group buy several years ago. I always have my SS if I am out in the ocean.
Ditto that!
I gave $600 for mine but would have paid more at the time for the insurance for myself and my kayak.
What a great opportunity for anyone that dosnt have one.
With the growing number of sharks, there's more out there than most imagine. I think I read where they believe the numbers work  out to a GW every 1/4 mile of coastline.
I've seen 2 while diving in my years of diving. Along with seeing headless seals in Trinidad bay, and Noyo harbor while kayak fishing.
If you spend any time in the ocean this is a no brainer!

Thanks guys.

I felt a little sick as I handed over my credit card for this one,  but I get giddy everytime I walk into my garage and see it. Can't wait to take it out.

Awesome color!!!

For Sale / Re: 950+ Rounds of S&W40 - $250!

I do live off the pyramid freeway to the lake north of Sparks.
October 1 is opening and I'll be on the water when the wind not blowing.
I'll take em off your hands if you still have them when you come up to go fishing.
It's always fun fishing with NCKA Bros also.

If you have to deal with FFL come on over to Cabelas, I'll buy them from you no FFL.
I know there's something at Cabelas that you'll want.

General Fishing Tips / Re: South Lake Tahoe fishing.
« on: July 24, 2018, 04:38:01 PM »
Almost all the boat fishermen are launching at cave rock just north of zephyr Cove and there fishing north . As for vhf I asked for a radio check on 68,69&70 with no response.
I'm working in south Lake Tahoe and every day theres 4-6 fishing boats at cave rock launching or already fishing. Many in the middle of the lake. I did see a kayak out there last week with a net.

General Talk / Re: Picking a spot to retire
« on: July 23, 2018, 05:07:37 AM »
Looked at Prescott Az ..Not much there but less expensive than SoCo .. Neither of us have Kaiser so but like I wrote she'll want close to our kids ..Maybe lol

I recently had my friends from Fortuna ca move to Prescott,
There very happy there with lots of recreation they  recently got themselves a couple of wilderness kayaks.
They live 5 mins from one of the little lakes.
Might not be a bad choice for some.
I left California and landed in Reno, good hospitals/ doctors, close to the mountains, reasonable drive to the ocean,
International airport, and best of all no state income taxes.
I just might stay right here!

General Talk / Jackson Coosa FD
« on: July 22, 2018, 07:07:56 PM »
I've been interested in the Jackson Coosa FD for awhile.
Stopped by the shop and met Kyle Anderson from the Lake Tahoe Kayak Rentals.
He has a large variety of kayaks to choose from to rent or buy.
We looked over the Coosa and made an appointment for a demo.
I told him I'd needed  to rent 2 kayaks also for a couple of friends that had never kayaked before that was vacationing in Tahoe. He supplied pfd and paddles for them and gave me a great NCKA discount.

I told him this demo wasn't going to just be a peddle around but I wanted to capsize the yak to see how difficult a self rescue would be,
With a 35" wide boat. He got excited about that because he also was interested in this.
Self rescue successful 4 times. I stood up and had a couple of boat wakes send me into the water and tested some leaning turns to the limits. Under normal conditions I believe you would have to get a broad side cap from a 10' or greater swell in order to capsize this Kayak. Very stable.

What a great kayak it not only peddled over 5 mph, but tracked very well paddling it. Had some grass get into the prop and was easily removed.
The best part of the day was having Kyle show up 15 mins early greet me with a cold Redbull a hand shake with the biggest smile, and 130% effort to make sure we had all that we needed.
I look forward to not only doing business with the
Lake Tahoe kayak Rentals and Sales, but look forward to fishing and having a great relationship when it comes to this sport.
A Big shout out to Kyle and Sam for being so good to me and my friends.
I  encourage anyone visiting South Lake Tahoe to stop by and say Hi!!!
